That silhouette does look great on you! And congrats on the weight loss! Sugar, dairy, and gluten are three of my favorite things, so I'm especially impressed with your willpower.

Old Navy seems like they usually have a few shift dresses, although more in casual fabrics like jersey or sweater-knit. I have this one from last spring (generally wear it more as a tunic) and I don't think they have the exact style now, but they might have a similar cut.

Thanks for all the comments, ladies! :)

@bj1111: I love the AllSaints aesthetic and have definitely looked into it. Unfortunately the price tag is beyond what I can afford while I'm going through weight loss. I will definitely shop this brand once I've reached my goal and I'm ready to make the investment!

@Diana: I know shifts can be challenging for pear shapes! Have you looked into more a-line shaped hems?

I have been off-and-on here so I missed the dress Una tried. That dress looks really cool though the neckline will not work for me. I'm still relatively busty (despite the 2 inch loss) so lower scoop necks and v-necks work best. Boatnecks, in some instances also work for me.

@Staysfit: it's certainly a lot of work to lose 12 lbs! An enormous amount of willpower!

@lisap: I would totally try Club Monaco shifts in a heartbeat! If I wasn't going through weight loss I'd definitely shop there as it's one of my favourite stores! Their lines are very clean and mod-like which is why I'm particularly drawn to their aesthetic.

Like you, I'd wear a silk shift year round! It's really just a layering exercise and from what I heard, silk has it's own insulating properties! I really regret not having purchased two Cynthia Rowley shifts during the summer because they would've fitted me perfectly, now that I've lost some bust inches (biggest size was tight but not glaringly so in bust/arms).

I love a shorter shift dress too - and have found my favourites at Club Monaco. Now, that look of course comes and goes with their seasonal style direction changes, but I do love the fit and quality of their silk shifts. Yes, they are lightweight and not typically wintery , but I wear mine 12 months a year with different "support" pieces (tights or bare legs, boots or sandals, belted or not, and with a jacket or big cardigan, or not!). This silhouette looks good on you :)

You look great, and I can see why this style is your favorite! I love shift dresses too but often they don't love my pear shaped hips.

I was also going to suggest allsaints. And did you see the tree print dress Una tried?

I see you in some asymmetry too to bring in the rocker vibe. Or helmut lang? Our tjmaxx has a designer section that can be quite good.

@Elizabeth P: that EF dress looked stunning on both you and Shannon! From what I remember. You're IT as well, right? I'll definitely stalk this on eBay!

@columbine: I started looking through Modcloth yesterday! I haven't found a dress that appeals to me yet but I hope I have some luck later!

Have you explored Modcloth? I think you could add a rocker edge to a lot of those dresses, if you can find the shape and length you want. They do have a lot of funky prints and shorter lengths.

The shape of this dress reminds me of the EF drape front dress. That might be an option for you. Keep an eye out for sales or eBay for it though!

Thanks Jackie!

I've always been drawn to the mod aesthetic but the "neatness" of it isn't a sustainable style for me. Had to mix it up with the rocker edge ;)

What I'm wearing here is my second go-to formula: the minidress + tall boots. I may have posted this outfit before except this time, I'm wearing it with my new longer collarless ope jacket. I bought the jacket this week specifically for this dress (the denim jacket doesn't quite look right). It gives it a bit of a slightly mod vibe. But because this is me, it's rocker edgy mod ;)

I've taken a strong liking to very clean simple curves in my outfits. I love structure with curves, and this seems to suit my body well. I've also taken a strong liking to shift dresses: my favourite types of dresses back when I was younger and thinner. I have only lost 12 lbs so far, but I lost 2 inches off my bust and 2.5 on my waist. It seemed to have "balanced me out" a bit where wearing higher necklines and surrendered waists actually looked better (they used to make me look like a brick back when I had a bigger tummy and was busty). If I keep up with my diet (I cut out sugar, dairy, gluten), I can probably maintain these proportions.

I wish there were more dresses like this out there. I'd love a black one and I'd love more in funkier prints. They just look fabulous with flat footwear! I would actually want to explore more shift mini dress styles but I'm not quite sure who sells them! Any ideas?
