Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! It made me feel great, and the advice for trying new things is so helpful.

As an aside, I fear I'm getting addicted to YLF! I'm going to have to start being strict with myself about YLF time during work hours or I'll never get anything done

Your outfit looks great, is very well balanced and flattering but I agree, there's no harm in highlighting different qualities with different outfits. I'm thinking you have a great figure for dresses? Maybe something in a knit with a fitted ribcage and open neckline?

You look great. I see no problem at all with any of the proportions -- you've got that right IMO. I wish I looked like you in a simple jeans outfit! What I'd focus on instead is adding more polish and flare to your outfits. Is that interesting to you or do you want to keep it super casual?

For example, a silk tee that is semi-tucked into the jeans, instead of a regular tee shirt. Or, a top that is the same color as your booties for some tonal sophistication.

Great first WIW post! I like this outfit on you--it looks relaxed and stylish. Proportions look terrific to me. I think the drape of the cardigan creates vertical lines, rather than adding volume to the look.

Welcome! It's a cute outfit :)

I notice you have the envied long neck. I'm thinking volume may not be the thing, but higher necklines or jewelry or something else to draw the eye up. One thing about this outfit is that the necklines all "droop" down - your pretty face seems maybe distant, not part of the picture.

I think this is great. Volume over skinny works well here and I don't think you look out of proportion at all. If you want to reign in the volume a bit on top you could wear a more fitted top or try semi-tucking.

Sarah Kay...I see a happy, stylish ready for the day, person...I am glad you ate here at YLF and I look forward to following your style and your growth...For a casual office, there are many ways to add umph to your look without going outside the bounds of the office dress code...Perhaps you might want to accessorize with a cute scarf...or add a slouchy sweater with boots...
This is all so much fun to work with your own personal style...Best to you as you do...

Forgive the camera phone picture, the fact that my husband is doing his best to make me laugh, and the bags under my eyes caused by daughter being awake from 1:30 to 4:30AM!

I work in a very casual office (people wear shorts and flip-flops for 9 months out of the year), and this is my typical uniform - jeans, casual top, and topper. Yesterday, I wore this old pair of ON jeans that are a little on the short side, so I paired them with ankle booties to a little more coverage since it was a chilly day. The tee is ivory with a fun little zebra print, and I've topped it with a soft black zippered drapey cardigan.

After posting last week about my body type, I am starting to see that I might not be having enough volume on the lower half of my body to balance out the top. I've always tended toward covering up on top, especially when I was younger, because of the size of my chest. But I can see now how that can end up creating more bulk and making me look a little out of proportion. Maybe I'd be better off not trying to hide my top curves so much?

Anyway, this is where I'm starting from, and I'm hoping that by continuing to learn from and be inspired by all of you, I can start to zero in on what works for me, what doesn't, and really define a personal style. Here's to learning!
