Thank you lovely ladies! :)

@Diana: great idea wit the brooch! I will try that!

@Suz: yes the fuss factor is a huge thing for me. If I wore a heavier scarf and a more structured jacket/cardi, I would've felt a lot better! Seems to be my lesson in thus exercise: this girl can't live without a bit of structure!

@K: the colours are fine as I feel great in black anyway. It's the fabrication. Cardi is over-drapey so it flapped around in the wind a lot. So did the lightweight scarf. A less drapey scarf and structured jacket/cardi would solve the problem.

@Beth Ann: the shoulder is the main reason I got the cardi. It was a great fit! The length is perfect as well. I guess I should wear it when it's less windy - or I'm just too fussy.

Love both looks, KK. The 1st if perfect for a under-the-weather day. I can't see the fit of the skinnies, but the true shoulder and slimmer sleeve of the cardi gives enough structure to the look, I think. It's length is perfect for coverage without overwhelming.

The second look is very current and amazingly flattering. Well done!

#2 looks awesome! I think #1 does looks nice, even if you were feeling blah in it. Would something a little brighter on top (even something as simple as a white top) make it feel better for you?

#2 is fantastic on you! Yay for a great formula!

I like #1, too, but I hear you on the fuss factor. If I am fussing I never feel very good, no matter how it looks.

If the straight hemline top is long and drapey enough you could try gathering it with a safety pin (or a pretty brooch) on one side to make it asymmetrical.

I must've misread, oops! I've been looking around for assymetrical tops but nothing is fitting the bill right now hopefully I'll find a few soon because I really like sporting this look. It speaks to my "get whatever is clean and run out" style sensibility (I'm such an Aries!).

I tried the straight top (with dolman sleeves) on this skirt and I can make it work for some reason. I may just need to design a dolman top with a hi-Lo hemline. Sadly I'll have to wait until the semester ends to get to work!

Oh, I meant asymmetrical tops. But I think asymmetrical skirt + straight top would also work. It's about not having so many horizontal lines, I think.

Thanks Diana!

When I look back at the photo, I think #1 DOES look good, but I think the reason why I wasn't so happy with it was because of all the "babysitting" I had to do with the cardi and scarf wanting to fly off of me.

I will look into asymmetrical tube skirts! I'm also open to midi length as well (I tried one on and they worked with flats!)

Blue whit combo is EVERYWHERE these days! You should try it! It would look really fantastic on you! And I know this sort of print could be right up your alley as well!

I think #1 looks good (sorry you didn't feel good in it though) but #2 is amazing! The sheer hi-low sweater is just perfect with that skirt! I also find with tube skirts that uneven or asymmetrical hems are best. Try a diagonal hem too. I love the blue/white combo too - I have been really itching for something in that color combo lately.

Outfit #1:

Woke up feeling not-so-well. I decided to just grab what I can find and top it off with a scarf to "liven things up". I had issues with this scarf because it flapped around all over the place. The day turned out longer than it should because it ended with a goodbye karaoke and dancing with coworkers. Not the sexiest casual evening outfit but feh. It was fun.

Why it's awesome: colours. That's it.

How I felt:
Meh. Ill-fitting skinnies. Tunic not working out. Drapey cardi lacks structure. Why is it that many Fabbers look fantastic in drapey cardis but I can't "get it together?" The scarf flapping around in the wind was another annoyance.

The items:
Top: Cable & Gauge
Cardigan: Bobeau
Skinnies: American Eagle
Shoes: Aravon
Scarf: Coldwater Creek

Lesson learned: have a "I'm feeling nasty/yucky but I gotta go to work" outfit. Again, dresses are FABULOUS for that but most of mine need a topper and I exhausted all topper options!

Outfit #2: REDEMPTION!

I redeemed my little fail-outfit from Monday by wearing the vest with my LBD last Thursday. Since BF and I went to his parents yesterday, I figured I'd wear something casual yet still semi-polished. We've been dating for a long time and still, I don't want to look like a slob around my potential in-laws :)

Why it's awesome:
1. I finally found ONE WAY to wear this skirt. It officially is no longer a mistake purchase. I still don't understand why it's so hard to match tops to this skirt though. The hemline of my new fave sweater is perfect, but others don't quite cut it. Maybe I should prototype and draft some potential tops for this skirt.

2. They feel like pajamas.

3. I didn't spill anything on it.

4. I'm wearing a pair of sandals a coworker recommended and it's really working out for me!

How it felt:
FABULOUS! Like pajamas yet still polished. I LOVE outfits that feel this way!

And you will notice that I'm having a fashion-blogger-with-her-photographer-boyfriend moment (neither of us are fashion bloggers OR photographers). I think I've improved on my pose but the face posing needs work. Ugh camera phobia sucks!

Also, the sweater is new. My first one got really snagged up and hole-y and I managed to find this one - same price. I'm so careful not to snag it now...

The items:
Sweater: Zaria (from Marshalls)
Skirt: Catherine by Catherine Malandrino
Shoes: Benvado
