Another vote for too early to purge! I hear you, though, on wanting to explore looser fits. Your current looks are more casual, and cozy can be very nurturing and at the same time look amazing. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Hi Rute! I love your outfit - the knitter in me is adoring the cables in that sweater. So fab!
I generally wait about a year to purge, unless I'm absolutely confident something doesn't appeal to me.

This is a good question! I recently purged an item I hadn't worn in 6 months, then regretted it. I hadn't worn it because it wasn't the right season for it yet.

I say, wait a year until the next season. If it's season-appropriate again, but you don't want to wear it, it's safe to purge.

Now for your outfit. I have spent a lot of this winter wearing the same formula: cozy cardi, booties, and skinny or boyfriend jeans. I think you still look quite polished, and I love the way you have taken a simple, potential RATE formula and made it pulled together.

Even though I'm a purging fanatic, I agree with the others. Your closet is beautiful, tasteful and carefully curated. It's not like you have a bunch of poor quality, ill-fitting clothes in there.

This outfit is adorable, and I can see why you've enjoyed this silhouette all winter. I could wear a chunky knit too, if it was a cardi like yours. Practical and fashionable!

Can you try a few "combination" outfits - chunky sweaters with pencil skirts etc. Perhaps if you find a way to morph the old with the new, you'll find a happy medium and indeed, experience the "feel good factor" once again with your "old" clothes. Anything "classic" is worth keeping either way I think!

Hi Rute, I agree with the others. Don't start purging.

This look is really fantastic and can be added to your other style. Why not have a couple of styles in your closet ?

You had a very tough Fall/Winter with your son's cancer and chemo. It makes sense that you would gravitate to comfy, comfort clothes. I don't think that this would be the season to judge your tastes by.

How is your son ?

You always have the best advice.
It's not that the old items don't fit, but I don't have the "Hapiness factor" (love this concept) when I try to worn them.

So, this looks absolutely terrific! My thoguths on purging are a bitvaried. First, iw ould go through and weed out anything that doesn't fit anymore, anything perhaps worn out a bit, not fresh or fab anymore.

Then, I would look at the remaining pieces and ask yourself if you still feel fab in them even if you haven't worn them much this winter. You have had so much going on that I would wait on anything you still fab in. You are gearing up for summer now anyway, so packing them away and waiting a few months for a fresh take is going to kind of happen anyway.

At the beginning of the next year, when you take out your cold weather stuff again, look at it and decide if you want to still wear it. If not, donate then, otherwise, give it another winter to see how it goes. If you haven't worn it then, so two full winters of no wear, then I would donate it.

Very pretty outfit Rute - maybe the winter just brought out the need to be cozy? I wouldn't purge too much yet either as when spring arrives you may find yourself wanting to remix those bombshell items. I also use the holding zone technique. I have a big drawer sized box where I put items that I'm not wearing but not ready to purge. Sometimes I do raid the box and eventually I will pass on the items that stay in there too long.

I love the look! How about doing one in one out for a while? That way you get to keep your older favourites to see if you start missing them after a wile. And you can start replacing the pieces worn not so often in the past with new pieces that fit more into your changed style.
Wait a bit more on purging, Rute. I love the chunky cardi/blouse/jeans look! Sometimes I have waited one or two seasons (or even three) before purging to be really sure it was ok to leave the item. Especially if your items are classic, they will not get unfashioned and you could turn back to them and changing the look with updated accessories. Just some random thoughts
I have still all my fitted dresses and pencil skirts, but they didn't come out of the closet this year.
I'm waiting to see if this is just a passing phase or some sort of style evolution, because, depending on that I'll have to do a closet cleaning.
How long do you wait before purging?
