I know there will be lazy days when I might turn down an invitation, but since I also want to be proactive and think up some adventures to invite others to, it would be good to be in practice for readiness at the drop of a hat, so to speak.</p> <p>Carla, you ask good questions. I also tried to cut back on clothing purchases which would serve only for work. I'm not sure I was too successful, but that will become known as things either are worn or ignored, true? And as to summer skirts, i intend to wear the more casual ones as I find them cooler and often more flattering than shorts. But since I may be participating more in kid art projects, nature hikes and picnics, yard work, etc., I might be wrong about that.</p> <p>I know that at the end of September, when it cooled off (a little), and I announced my retirement date at work, I was so tempted to box up all my silky tops, pencil skirts and sandals other than casual flats, and haul them off for immediate donation. Of course, I was aware of the stress-related motivation, and didn't act on that impulse.</p> <p>Thanks for the reminder and compliments on my red pullover outfit. My last day of work was November 30, and I've spent the last few weeks in December visiting my two daughters and their families, including 5 sweet little grandkids, and preparing for and celebrating Christmas with them, and my in-laws. Today the traveling and holidays are over for this year. Hubby has gone off to his weekly coffee group, so I have the day to myself.</p> <p>I'm seeking to get into a routine that includes time to sew and quilt, read, invite friends to things like galleries and lunch-and-learns, maybe host some tea and talk or book chats myself.</p> <p>Anyway, here is what I'm wearing today. I need to run to Macy's to exchange a top that I gave my mother-in-law that is too big, and look for fabric to fill a specific project. I do want to avoid the all-day lounge pants and sweatshirt look even on days I don't go out - that is a challenge to myself.</p> <p>Early Happy New Year to all! </p>
