Thank you, everyone, for your warm and positive responses! All of your welcoming words mean a lot to me, and I am relieved and happy that I took the plunge. Both the top and the jacket were purchased since I started reading YLF. A year ago I never would have tried either one. I still have difficulty figuring out when and how to wear both pieces (separately); their aesthetic is so different than anything I've ever owned. I might post separately about this. Beth Ann, the adjectives you used are enlightening (an epiphany! ) as I start thinking about my style descriptors--modern, chic, and classic. I've never used any of these in describing my style. This is what I wore to church yesterday, where I am a member of the staff.  I would have worn a black pencil skirt instead of the pants, but it was cold and we were under a winter storm warning, so I opted for pants instead.  Shirt is Ann Taylor; jacket is Charter Club; pants are New York and Company; shoes are Talbot's.  Lighting is all artificial and, on my monitor, not as clear as I wish it were.
