I really like it and it seems perfect for fall. (Although I'm not far away, living in DC and found it too warm to wear so many layers today-- such a gorgeous day!)</p> <p>Maybe it's because I can't see them perfectly, but I would put the shoes in the essentials category even if you don't wear them a lot. I don't see any details that make them seem "statement" to me. And I think that's a good thing-- you already have three statements in this outfit (shirt, belt, bag). I'm going for a casual comfortable vibe, and it turned out kind of tomboyish, which is fine by me.</p> <p>I'm editing this post to take a stab at figuring out whether these pieces are statements or essentials...</p> <p>Plaid shirt: Target (statement -- color and pattern)<br /> Moto pants: Lululemon (I feel like these are essentials in the "black pants" category -- the moto stitching is subtle and I can, and do, wear these with almost anything)<br /> Belt: boutique in Reykjavik (workhorse statement)<br /> Oxfords: Anna Sui for Hush Puppies from 3 or so years ago (hmmm, not really essential as I don't wear them a lot, but perhaps too subtle for a statement?)<br /> Backpack: Aimee Kestenberg (statement)<br /> Denim jacket: Paige (hmm, again, does the mixed media effect render it more statement than essential? I'm guessing yes)</p> <p>High happiness factor! Comments &amp; suggestions welcome as always. </p>
