It seems our yard has never dried out, and the trails around here are mud pits. Normally I love to walk and run on the trails, but it's no fun when it's muddy and slippery.&nbsp;</p> <p>I heard a snippet on the radio the other day that as of the official end of summer, we had 70% of the summer with cloud cover at noon, as opposed to our normal of something like 30%. I'm a difficult fit too, but in just the opposite way -- big hips, big thighs, plus long legs, and most pants are cut too narrow and too short. Pants shopping almost always makes me feel horrible about myself. When I find some that work, I'm reluctant to leave them behind!&nbsp;</p> <p>Jaime, those are Steve Madden "Arctic" sneakers -- they make them in a few different colors, and now even a version with closed in sides, which makes them more wearable for more seasons/weather (kind of wish I had those now). I eyed a pair in silver with closed sides the other day. They're pretty comfortable but took a little adjusting to make them work for me since my feet are slightly narrow. Worn for a warm day out and about in town, lots of walking.</p> <p>2. Another very warm day -- wore for hair appointment and a meeting with art group.&nbsp;</p> <p>3. Temps a little more moderate -- worn for an art opening reception</p> <p>4-5. Two variations on the most pleasant weather day we've had in months. First variation worn for our annual neighborhood picnic, and added cape-scarf and bag for a quarterly art/design event (I'm on the leadership committee) and drinks with friends afterward).</p> <p>6-7-8. Worn on a cool and rainy day for a morning meeting at the bank, errands, a bit of shopping, and joining an amazing group of ladies in the walkout/demonstration in support of Christine Blasey Ford. My hair was still damp when I left the house in #6, but I let it go wavy that day and took a pic later when it was dry (#8), so you can see how the slightly newer cut falls when I don't dry it straight.</p> <p>9. Just a mannequin outfit I saw in Nordstrom the other day that I really liked. I would personally switch the hat for a floppy beret, but that's how I roll. :-)&nbsp;</p> <p>The other days I didn't bother taking pictures because I wore gear or bum-around-the-house wear for days of working at home or household projects.</p> <p>Documenting what I'm wearing this past week has made it really clear to me that I rarely go wrong with black garments, which is good because I buy and own a lot of them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That black tee in #4-5 is maybe three years old from James Perse, and it's starting to show some wear and fading, so I got a replacement V-neck from Madewell the other day (and duplicated in two other colors because their tees have been successful for me in the past).&nbsp;</p> <p>I shopped for possible replacement pants for my beloved old black moto pants, and I found some contenders at Athleta. I got both in tall for more length, and they're both good on me -- one pair is a bit more versatile (deeper pockets, no zips on the ankle so they can be rolled), but the other a bit more flattering for general wear, so I'm actually thinking of keeping both, since finding pants that fit me well is not always so easy. No, they don't have that moto styling, but the only pair of moto-styled pants I found, which seem to be a copy of those old Lululemon pants (made by Prana, IIRC), were cute but the fabric too rough and uncomfortable for my liking. Perhaps it's ok to give up the moto detailing for now and simply have some good versatile black pants. :-)&nbsp;</p> <p>Tracking has helped me see that this is a good time to update/replace some basics and hold off on buying any more statement pieces for now. I don't need more toppers -- I have a wealth of them and clearly lack the weather to need them as much of the year as I would like. I need to sit on my hands every time I see a jacket I like. &nbsp; </p>
