We are 700 people scattered around the world, and it’s nice to connect annually in person with the folks I work closely with in other offices. I also eat and drink for a few days in a gorgeous location on the org’s dime, and they usually arrange good speakers. There is also a talent show, karaoke and a dance party. It’s exhausting though, and kind of hell for introverted folks. </p> <p>Joy, I hadn’t thought yet about this dress as a duster! Great idea. </p> <p>It’s totally a house dress, but I didn’t mind running errands and then going to the park in it. Beach Lunch Lounge makes great dresses along these lines, and they’re about $25 at the rack or TJ Max. It's exactly what you describe. A dress that you wear around the house to do household tasks or to lounge in (though I'm betting my grandma didn't do much lounging, ha!). If a salesperson comes to your door (perish the thought) you look presentable. If you need to run to the corner store, no problem. Throw on shoes (and in granny's day, a hat) and off you go. I am back from a few days at a resort with 700 of my closest coworkers. That means I’m tired, and I’m keeping this weekend pretty casual, though I am going to see friends tomorrow. I’m wearing this today for lounging at home and then a picnic and Shakespeare show in the park. </p> <p>I’ve decided recently to try to stop wearing PJs so much in the house, at least during the day. I do need to be really comfortable at home, though. I really can’t stand where anything constricting when I’m lounging around. Getting a dress like this helps because I can wear it comfortably in the house but throw on shoes in a bag and go out. It also satisfies my need for a beach vibe in the summer.</p> <p>I like to have dresses I can dress up or down a bit. Not sure about this one for work, except maybe as a tunic over white jeans? (This isn’t Boden, for once! It’s by Beach Lunch Lounge. No find, but Sals Off 5th has it in another color if you look.) I like how the fact that it’s a shirt dress adds just enough structure. </p> <p>Happy weekend! </p>
