Had to join late and say that I adore this look Shevia! You can certainly tuck You could also use a hi-low hem and tuck just the front. LOVE the shorter 'do, so sassy!

I wonder if the "paper bag" look might seem more pronounced with a skinny belt?

I also think a pointier shoe with a bit of a heel, a bootie perhaps?

Love this look! It's a look I strove for back in the late 80s and have wanted to recreate again - if only my waist would make an appearance. I think a scarf or some sort of dashing hat would make this PERFECT.

Angie you are so sweet and you really know how to make my day. Haute Tomboy Safari! A rare compliment - as a matter fact, I think it might be unique! In any case, I dearly treasure it. Thank you everyone for easing my tucking fears - I was so in fear of the tuck that being fashion backward was the least of my worries! I am glad these pants passed muster (more or less). I would never have dared try without YLF - what more can I say?

(LOVING the short, cheeky new do, btw).

Of course tucking works on you! Very well in fact. Love those casual trousers. On trend!

You are looking very Haute Tomboy Safari. Makes your pretty face shine even more brightly.

Personally I steer away from pleated pants... This doesn't look bad and your figure looks good, I think tucking with a different pair of flat front pants would be fabulous on you.

Shevia: I think Deborah has some great ideas, and Shiny is right, this could easily be perceived as retro, with almost a "paperbag waist." What about pairing it with a crisp shirt, rolling the pant legs and trying a slightly lighter oxford, slipper flat or bootie?

I also find that I'm ready to explore high waists and even pleats again, but it can take some experimentation to create a look that is modern and fresh.

P.S. With the pairing you have here, a long, casual pendant would be nice.

Thank you both! I am very self conscious about my thick middle. I know I am not overweight, but my stomach muscles are damaged from my huge (and I mean huge) pregnancy and it is really hard for me to look at my side view objectively.

These are probably not the best pants for lots of reasons but it is easier for me to deal with a higher waist tuck because of the way I am shaped in the middle. I think you are completely right Deborah that the shoes are too dark and heavy here - but I did want to road test them (they were totally comfortable!).

Shevia I think you look cute I think I would prefer to see a lover contrast between the pants and the shoes, having said that though the belt does work nicely with the shoes (great shoes BTW). Because the outfit is summery and light, some skin showing around the foot would be good, the shoe looks just a little heavy to me.

I think you can definitely tuck. you have a lovely figure and these pants have a slouchy vibe, and I don't mind a high waist.

I'm going to guess those pants are so out of date, they are now back in style. I dunno.. I am liking the vibe here. Though, you have the figure I'd bet you'd totally rock lower rise belted and tucked easily... no?

I have not tucked in years. At least since my twins were born. But I was feeling reckless and decided to try tucking into these high waisted pants. I look at the pictures and really have no idea if this is disaster or is salvageable and what tweaks are needed. T- shirt too low? Pants too short? Shoes should be closer in color and/or higher? Pants out of date? Forget tucking? Please advise!
