JR: I think most of us have some issues with finding pants that fit right off the rack. Personally, I have the opposite problem-most of pants I try are too big in the waist but if they fit in the waist, I can't even get these past my hips. So tailoring is something I do to 99% of my pants. Judging from what you said, you should try doing the same. Lower rise is definately an option but I suggest finding a good tailor because they can do wonders

JR, it sounds like you have some of the same fit challenges as I do. When clothes fit my waist they're often too big other places. I've resigned myself to frequent alterations in order to make things really fit all over. Sigh!
But it's worth it, because my clothes look so much better when they fit properly.

I like you in turquoise, and your necklace is cute!

Thanks for the input, everyone.

The actual colour of the top is a brighter green, which didn't translate well in the photo. If the colour IRL were the same, I would love it. My greens have to be either very bluish, or in the sage/olive spectrum if they are going to work on me.

Victoria, I tend to agree with you. I'm letting these pants finish the summer, but I will find better fitting ones for next year. My challenge is that by the time a pair of pants will accomodate my thick waist, they are often baggy lower down. I guess I am going to have to embrace low rises, or at least mid ones. Can you feel my lack of enthusiasm?

I did try tucking but it just drew attention to my stomach, which is part of what I am trying to overcome by wearing a big T-shirt in the first place.

I like the color of the tee on you and I'd love to see it semi-tucked with a belt, like others suggested. Love the necklace, it's so pretty! I second Victoria on the pants, I would like to see this top with slimmer bottoms.

I think turquise is a great color for you! As far as the pants, I am going to disagree and say that its too baggy and doesn't flatter you at all. I think with loose tshirt, you need slimmer cut of the pants because nothing will make any person look heavier as when both top and bottom is baggy and loose

I love the color of the top with the pants! Maybe a semi-tuck would reign in a little of the volume? I like the necklace too and I think black or brown or maybe nude sandals are fine.

I like the outfit, love the color and think black sandals might be a great choice with the bright color, brown seems a bit too muted.

I really like the pieces here, and turquoise is a universally flattering color, so who told you it isn't your best color? It looks great on you and highlights your beautiful hair color. The shape of the top plus jeans is a little slouchy for me, so I'd probably tuck it and use a belt to define a waist, but I'm someone who has a hard time wearing anything that doesn't have at least one fitted component to it. Lots of gals on this forum wear volume over volume and it looks great and they enjoy it a lot. I like the look of this with brown sandals. Black would be sharp and crisp, but brown looks more complex and interesting. Very fun!

You've got all the makings of a fun summery BF outfit! I'd just add a belt and a semi tuck of the tee The tee looks soft enough to drape quite nicely!

I do wonder about the 'big T-shirt look' worn out and about . . . maybe others will chime in. . .

Look ladies, I rolled up my hems without being told. ;o)

The top is the only item (I think) that has survived my closet purges, mainly because I rather like the big T-shirt look. Has its time come? Please forgive the spots on the front; I was washing dishes. They dry out, no problem.

The pants are kind of too big, but hey, if everybody else can wear boyfriend jeans...

I know the colour is not my best, but at least it isn't my worst.

The necklace is being used for the first time. I have no clue where it came from. I was probably around when somebody else was purging her costume jewelry and agreed to accept the orphan. I toned down my earrings because of it.

And last but not least, should I wear black sandals instead? We might go grab some river breezes at the beach later in the afternoon, in which case I will probably switch to my cheap gold flipflops. Cheap flipflops have their place, and the beach is it.
