Christina, try wearing a less body con and longer top with the cropped flares from the NAS.

LOVNG you in that grey gilet in the second set of pics. Try that with bootcuts too.

Christina
I would never wear it against my skin, either and I think the stiffer knit is what I find appealing. I'm not a flouncy sweater kinda girl. I prefer some structure. And it even has roomy pockets!!! I can see myself wearing that grocery shopping. I don't carry a purse in the grocery store and those pockets look big enough for keys, sunglasses, and a wallet. What a great find. I'm so excited. I actually have had a vest like that on my Pinterest board for awhile and never came across the right thing. I like your vest better, btw. Here's the outfit with the similar vest from Pinterest...

Suzanimal, yes, TJ Maxx, and the brand is Tahari. The only thing is that it's not at all a soft knit, but since it won't really touch my bare skin I'm okay with that.

Thanks, all! I've gone back to jeans today, but copied the first look in my ETA comment, except with jeans and a cute popover top. I'll probably post my WIW's this week or next and include it. I do have plans to incorporate more non-jean looks, including Angie's formula with the pencil skirt and sweatshirt.

I really like your outfits- very well done.
FWIW my 2 picks:
The green skirt with the print top- I love a print juxtaposed against a bright solid piece.
That Loft dress with the tassels- it’s a gorgeous dress and and it suits you.
Pity you weren’t warm enough though!
Thanks for sharing

I have kept my streak going!

1/2 are from the weekend. In the second pic I’m trying on a cool vest at TJ Maxx that I took home.Going to see if I like it syled with some long sleeved tops. The first picture is very dim and my mirror is still broken, apologies.

3 - I planned to layer over this, but decided I didn’t like this with a sweater over it. I misread the forecast and decided I’d be okay without a topper. Big mistake. Today’s high temp just have been at midnight. Love the dress anyway, and I’m comfortable at my desk at work with a shawl.

All great looks - my fave is also 3 because of the color and print (although I love your French hen sweater).

I struggle with the break on PPL full length trouser cuts, because I don't wear much of a heel, so I get a big break. Where possible, I have started hemming the front of trousers and bootcuts 1/2" - 3/4" shorter than the back (it is called a military or slant hem. It is not noticeable as a slant when you wear them, but keeps the front from looking sloppy. Google military or slant hem - it is used a to in mens clothing and for the military.

Thanks, Aurore! My eye is not used to longer pants after years of skinny ankle length pants. I was afraid these called for a higher shoe, like the one in the store's stock photo. I'm glad you like my "French hen" sweater. It's a visual pun, and I adore it.

torontogirl, thanks again for the challenge idea, as I was getting bored with jeans. I do like skinny jeans in the winter for weather-related reasons as well. But then I end up wearing the same two pairs on repeat, since I'm picky about wash. I do have some grey and turquoise slim jeans that I should also break out, to help curb the monotony a little, but the material is thin. I'll have to wait for temps over freezing.

Suzanimal, these pants are the best, despite the little rip in the seam. I'm definitely having that fixed. I also have them in black. I wish I also had navy...

Jenni- Yes, same pants! They worked out very well! I'm glad I asked on the forum about them (and also the blue trousers), because I tend to buy pants and then let them become orphans in favor of jeans. By posting about things, I end up thinking about how they fit into my lifestyle and how I will wear them. Then, if I decide to keep them, I feel more compelled to wear them!

Terrific! The weather is always the trick, isn't it? For my part, I wear skinnies because I can put snowpants OVER them when I need to be outside ... but that's a matter of lifestyle. Your pastel blue top and black pants outfit is my favorite! YLF!

Your no-jeans outfits are very varied and well composed! I especially love #2, with the skirt, as I think the silhouette and color are gorgeous on you.
To me the length of your Lofts is perfectly fine, but I know I tend to love very long trousers.

Oh, and I love your sweaters on #1 and #5!

I decided to participate in torontogirl’s no jeans challenge this week, when I realized I’d already not worn jeans on Monday and Tuesday. Here are my thoughts on these outfits.

1. This is today. These are the magic Halogen cropped pants. The seam split a bit on the crotch, and I didn’t notice until I got to work. They look okay with a safety pin, plus I’ve got fleece leggings underneath anyway. I’m not happy, as I got these during NAS and they’ve been lightly worn.

2. Love this skirt. But it’s too tight. I was bloated that day, and had to unzip it a little to be comfortable. It looked just fine that way, since the top of the zipper was covered by the sweater. I’m starting to try to lose weight, so I don’t have to pass it on yet. I’ll try it again in a month or so.

3 & 4 are versions of leggings and a tunic sweater. 4 was a bit less dressy than I’d like to be most days at work from now on, but it was so comfy.

5-7. These new Loft pants are great for laying fleece tights underneath. So they turned out to be a winter winner, though I was unsure about them at first. I’m wearing them with low heeled booties and wondering if I should hem them a bit. I won’t be using higher heeled shoes with them, most likely. They do skim the ground, but don’t touch it. I'm not an expert on pant lengths anymore, if I ever was, but I'm unsure if the break looks right.

Overall, I realized that if I’m to have pants options other than jeans in winter, they need to stretch or fit fluidly enough to layer underneath. Pants that fit me in a very tailored way won’t work when it’s colder than 30 F, unless they are wool or lined (I have a hard time finding both). Tailored pants also tend to be tight when I sit down, which is why I don’t reach for them a lot. This makes me wonder if I should return some tailored lighter blue trousers I got recently, but I will see how I feel at the end of the return window.

I wanted to wear a dress this week, but I was too cold each morning to pull the trigger, even though I’d planned to layer below and on top of it. The skirt was worn on one of the warmer days and is a light wool.
