A skinny legging or pair of jeans with a mid to high boot is still the sleekest, most practical option for much of the winter.</p> <p>When I wear my wide leg pants to the office, I just stuff them into my tall boots and don't worry about the 'outfit' people will see in my short walk between car and office. Notwithstanding my quest for a new version of my essential jeans, I haven't gotten rid of my skinnies and today's outfit is an example of how I plan to use them strategically, at least in the short term.</p> <p>Yesterday I wore almost this exact combination, except with my baggy jeans, and I felt too much like I was trying to wear something one of my kids would wear (lighter baggy jeans + oversize puffer + cap) ... I also felt a bit sloppy ... today I feel much better; I think the "classic skinnies" balance the looser puffer and make the whole thing a bit neater and more 'grown up' but the jacket and hat combo still feels 2023ish. I feel updated but not like I'm trying to hard to fit in at the high school iykwim :D</p> <p>I think I can reverse this learning too - when I wear the baggy jeans, I can go extra-classic somewhere else to keep everything balanced-for-me.</p> <p>Also, this shows my winter purse! (had for years but I don't think it's made a WIW before) </p>
