I doom-scrolled through cheap flapper dress options on amazon and then went down a research rabbit hole (as one does). I found a pattern on folkwear.com And decided to make my own instead. It was such a simple pattern!&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.folkwear.com/blogs/news/new-pattern-1920s-flapper-dress">https://www.folkwear.com/blogs.....pper-dress</a></p> <p>Of course, I then had to shop for fabric. I wanted something very drapey. I found a pretty beige and white lace on sale. So then I needed a lining. I decided on black. So then I had the challenge of sewing the dress TWICE AND attaching the two together at the neckline and armholes. I also got some ostrich feather trim for the hem.</p> <p>So, I turned what could have been a 20 min shopping trip on amazon into half a week's work, between shopping for the pattern, the fabric, and sewing it all up.&nbsp;</p> <p>Oh, and then I went on etsy and got a 1920's era belt buckle and made a (also lined) belt with the remnants. Oh, and then I had to research 1920's makeup, which was very interesting. They drew their brows in very long at the ends.</p> <p>Well, I had a lot of fun doing it, and I learned how to line a dress, so it was worth it!&nbsp;</p> <p>Also? It was extremely comfortable. Like pajamas comfy. Nothing form fitting or cutting in. I paired it with some old Stuart Weitzman lace up oxfords (I just cannot wear heels...not to mention the function started with a happy hour standing on concrete floors). They were the closest I had to 1920's style footwear.</p>
