Dianthus I completely understand about slouchy pants not photographing well! I had a hard time taking photos of mine as well. I opted to have mine sitting on my hips, but I do realize this isn't for everyone I think a shorter jacket could be a good thing to try for the reasons Suz pointed out. Can't wait to see them after you get them let down a little!

I think this might be a question of movement and angle making all the difference. In this particular shot, your hips seem wider than they actually are, partly because of where the jacket hits and its boxiness. I think IRL the effect is probably quite different. I can see why you want these to work, and I am in favour of keeping, because I think they WILL work. The thing is, if you love wearing them, you'll feel great.

Okay. I will take them in and have them lengthened and perhaps narrowed a bit. I think I will print a pic of how I would like them to look and take it along.

Aida, I think these pants don't photograph well and the pics don't seem representative. While tucking my top yesterday, I was able to fit both arms in to mid forearm at the back. I am really short waisted so the pants are sitting at least 2-3" below my natural waist.. Without the belt, I can almost slide them off without undoing them first. I'm not sure why they look snug in pics because I could fit the next smaller size and they are almost too baggy.

I rarely get this feeling that I want to make something work but I seem to have it with these darn pants.

Wow, that is such a good outfit on you. the colour of the topper is gorgeous.
I think the length works, but for myself I would add a smidge more

Channel that alignment energy to making three folds on each leg's 'scrunch' line up! :-D

(I'm half serious, Dianthus. These look great on you and I hope you can make them work.)

So here's the thing...

I am a bit compulsive about things aligning. I find I like to have order. I align the placemats on the table and the napkins to the placements and the cutlery ends all need to be the same distance from the edge.

How does this relate you may ask? I find the folds or pooling of pants to be a bit disorderly and it looks a bit off to my eye. On the other hand, I often wear slingback shoes in summer and can't take a step without my pants getting stuck between my heel and the shoe. If I had the pants lengthened and narrowed, it would cause the scrunch and keep them out of my shoes - or would it?

Ack!!

Hmm longer for sure, but I am thinking that perhaps they need to sit a little lower on your hip as well? Not sure if that is possible.

I agree with the others, that a couple more inches should make these work, but I am definitely a novice when it comes to this look. That jacket color is lovely on you, BTW.

The high-waisted, neutral, slouchy pant combined with the boxy cut of the jacket is giving off frumpy vibes to me (sorry). Not sure how to style them?? I'm not really crazy about slouchy pants in general though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I do love the color of the blazer.

Two extra inches at the bottom would give you some scrunch (Angie's preferred look with slouchy trousers as I recall). I think that could really work. And I love them without the fabric belt - you an see the waistline more clearly that way. I still love the fit of these trousers on you Dianthus! And they look great with that shirt and blazer combo.

So you could make them two inches longer than they are in this picture? That might work. The look of the scrunch at the bottom is starting to grow on me, and I find I prefer it. (says the woman with no pants at all of this sort, so take that with a BIG grain of salt) Have a WONderful run. Many happy endorphins to ya!

ETA: And look how fabulous you are in the red of that blazer! Wow! That's another great color on you.

I took out the cuff and have room to lower the hem by almost 2" and could have them narrowed at the bottom. I like the soft light fabric and the comfy loose feel.

Suggestions or comments welcome - even negative ones. :)

It is nice out and sunny so I am heading out for a run.
