RC, Blondo started out with strictly utilitarian boots designed for Canadian winters. Not only that, they are just outside of Quebec City, one of the snowiest places on the continent (I can vouch for that, I lived there twice) so they definitely know their winters. Over the years they have gradually shifted to take fashion into account. Our gain. Although the first pair of winter boots I truly loved were fleece-lined Blondos that were utilitarian, but did simplicity so well they were chic. Or at least I thought so. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

My new Blondos have been beautifully waterproof so far. Not that I have gone splashing through puddles in them, but I have worn them in wet conditions.

Rachlylou - Thank you! I can not say enough nice things about UniQlo. Plus (I don't if you are in the area), visiting their SF store is kind of a trip. It made me feel a little like I got lost in an MTV video :)

JR - thank you! I appreciate the endorsement of the boots. They are really well-made, aren;t they? It's coming down in buckets here today, so I will have a chance to test out their waterproofing. Since they're Canadian made, I'm assuming they can handle rain and snow just fine...

Suz, Caro, ASingh, Kiwichick - thank you!

Charmian - thank you both for the scarf love and for your thought provoking question about the deprecating gloss on my comments and my style goals. I favor the minimalist classic and do not see myself shifting away from it any time soon. Most of my clothes fit well, are of decent quality (so they'll last), and are somewhat classic (so they won't get too dated). Overall, I think I have come a long way in how I dress myself, especially since joining YLF and for the most part, I am pleased with where I am and how I look.
At the same time, I do think that my outfits could do with an added (but understated element of interest/ drama/ statement, and my goal is to figure out how to add that in. Some days work out better than others...this week, I am loving how the scarves do elevate the interest of the outfit, and that's something I'm making a note to try more often.

Very nice. Very, very nice. Love the peak of white at the hems which so effectively prevent drabdom. You are right: the superior fit is what makes the simplicity work.

I know you're not asking, but keep the boots. Nothing wrong at all with a wee bit of scrunch at the ankle. I get that in my wide-shaft Blondos too. I am quite sure it is deliberate on their part. I like the very subtle relaxed vibe it adds to the boots.

The fit is fabulous on your outfits! Fit like that is visual interest enough.

(Ok, and Uniqlo is my next pilgrimmage...)

I'm not sure I could go SYC for 13 months ... well, ok, if I could shop your closet ... I am so impressed with all the pieces in your wardrobe! They line up so nicely with your style persona and fit you so well (can I steal your leopard wedges? and I love that scarf too -- hand over both yesterday's and today's, so I don't have to choose between them).

You seem to deprecate these your well-executed minimalist modern classic style (here you called it "not terribly exciting", a few days ago you asked about "upping the ante") -- are you looking to refine your style a bit, or perhaps starting to take it in a different direction?

Aida - I know what you mean! I grew up in monsoon country, so it'd drive me crazy too. But this is California rain. Not at all the same as Washington rain or tropical rain. Plus my total time outside in the elements consisted of 500 yards, from car to office. And it didn't rain I will be in Washington for the holidays, though, and I look forward to putting the Blondos through their Bellevue paces!

Looks like a great cozy outfit! My brain can't quite wrap around you wearing bootcuts in the rain though. Soggy hems drive me crazy!! On that note, the boots look fab and they will help keep those hems dry on wet days :}

Today's outfit includes a V-neck cashmere sweater (from Uniqlo, my new favorite store), bootcuts, leopard wedges (pic 3), and a scarf. I'm also wearing a Uniqlo heat tech long sleeve shirt underneath the sweater, which kept me warm and comfortable all day.

Not terribly exciting visually, I know, but I felt like all the items fit really well. It's still raining, so I topped everything with a trench, the same one as yesterday. What do you guys think? Thanks for looking and commenting!

Pic 4 - I picked up a pair of the Blondo Vergaras on sale (this is my last purchase for the next 13 months) I was going to post a K/R but then, I put them on and it was all over. For a skinny-legged girl, it's rare to find boots that fit around the calves; plus these are just yummy. There's a little bit of slouch going on at the ankles, but I'm cool with that. What do you think, Forum? I'm new to the idea of tucking jeans into my boots - is that skewing my perceptions?

ETA - sorry Pic 4 is so dark!
