This was a fun and comfortable outfit for a full day — I took myself for an artist date to have lunch and see an amazing retrospective of artist Joyce Scott at the Baltimore Museum of Art, took a leisurely walk to an nearby cafe where I enjoyed an iced coffee and read my book in the shade, and then met a friend for dinner. </p> <p>This skirt is trickier to style than I expected — I almost returned it to Anthro, but I loved the fit, the bird print, and how lightweight and breezy it is. The pattern is graphic blue and cream, not bright white, and when I tried a white top with it, it looked all wrong and made the print look dingy. I poked around the shops for a cream top, but I ended up not loving the one I found and returned it. </p> <p>At the same time, I’d been thinking I’d like to have a sleeveless chambray top again — I had one years ago that was really useful in summer. However, the ones I saw at retail just didn’t appeal to me — they were a little too classic. When I saw this one in the Nordstrom in Seattle, it struck all the right notes — a length that goes great with skirts, and a classic but with a twist that goes beyond trend. I’m going to play with the side drawstrings/ties a bit more with future styling but I anticipate a workhorse. </p> <p>Bella, the V is quite deep! I think the model is wearing a very small size (I’m in a M) and I’m much shorter in the torso, but I was surprised to see how short the top looks in the stock photo. The neckline is certainly deep, but it’s quite narrow and the Jonny collar helps keep it structured so it doesn’t flap open to reveal my bra.
