I'll play with it a bit later, as the blouse is a rather heavy one that I save for cold weather.</p> <p>KathyL, I need wide-shaft boots and they are very snug, with no room for tucking anything at all. I buy queen size for my knee-high nylons, because otherwise the elastic just kills me. So I think objectively, my calves are certainly much bigger than the norm. Thanks.</p> <p>Mer, I would have frozen at church in the minimal version. It's a big church, and they keep it cool in there, to compensate for the body heat, I guess. I almost had to pop my coat back on. I was down to the basics all afternoon, with flats, of course, for playing soccer with toddlers. My constant wardrobe challenge is to make each of the layers work at least tolerably well, and hopefully very well. I'm constantly peeling off or adding elements if I go out, especially at this time of year, where we often go through a couple of seasons in a day.</p> <p>*salutes to Suz* Yes ma'am. But I'd already chosen the skirt for church and none of my scarves or jackets or cardigans were quite clicking for me till I tried the navy shawl scarf. So I wore it. Belted. Seriously, what's happening to me? New colour combos, throwing belts on all over the place... I blame you guys.</p> <p>I really like the look of the scarf belted like this. It is horribly impractical though, if you want to move at all. But it was fun for a change, and there isn't that much moving going on at church, so it wasn't too bad, although I had to readjust it every time I stood up. I had to wear the flats to walk to church but I was vain enough to swap them out for heels once I got there. I hope the cream coat is not too spring-like, because I wore it anyway. And will continue to do so, unrepentant. After church there was a family meal involving grandchildren :o) so the heels and scarf were put aside. Still navy and taupe. This outfit went through all the variations on the theme, but the navy and taupe were the constant. And white, of course.</p> <p>The elastic belt is ancient. I dug it out of my drawer, fully intending to go out and buy a new elastic, seeing as this one crackles and doesn't have much spring left in it, but I loved it so much with the scarf, and it stays in place with no loops so much better than a leather one, that I wore it before I had the chance. Oh well, nobody pulled on it to discover how old it was. It rather fascinated my two-year-old grandson, who had to find out how it worked, and was disappointed to discover it was too big for him. Gotta love it. </p>
