The church was so colorful with its Byzantine murals and brilliant gold leaf, it felt like we were inside an illuminated manuscript. Our friend, the groom, is a first-generation American with strong ties to Greece. Surrounded by his family, singing old hymns in Greek, I could almost pretend we were in a tiny, stone church on a cliff top, and that we would walk outside to see the blue Aegean and maybe a few goats.</p> <p>As we walked to the reception on the church lawn, our view was, alas, only the Southern California parking lot! But I wasn't too sad because more delights awaited us. Grape leaves! Baklava! Dancing! Yasou!</p> <p>I wore this frothy confection of a dress which I have had for nine years. I really love it because it is cut and seamed in such a figure-flattering manner. The pattern is a dreamy paisley mixed with leopard, in shades of tan and dusky blue. The beads are brilliant aqua and each one has a little sequin sewn behind it. There is a full-length slip in a rich camel color, and the slip has a lovely lacy top that peeks out beneath the dress's cowl neck.</p> <p>I've been shopping for six months for a summery topper, and finally found this featherweight cardigan the day before the wedding! Whew!</p> <p>I took a few detail pics. Please note the matching aqua inside of my clutch, a hidden perk!
