I wouldn’t mind a version of these that’s not quite as voluminous, but I do like these quite a bit. However, I got them in a Tall, and I think I could hem them maybe 3/4” — they’re just a smidge long, and they’re a little roomy, so they slide down my waist a bit and drag on the floor after I’ve worn them a while. I need to take them to my tailor. </p> <p>I would like a pair of cropped pants in this same kind of fabric — a good alternative to shorts in the summer. The fabric is so lightweight and breathable!</p> <p>I really enjoyed wearing the almost-orphaned jacket yesterday. And thanks for the good wishes with the rental property well — the pump needed a new check valve, so it wasn’t a huge expense, thank goodness. I always loved the print and how lightweight it is, but it’s quite cropped, and the wide black banded hem emphasizes the cropped nature of it, which can be challenging on my proportions since my torso is already really short. It’s usually best over a column of black or grey, like a dress or jumpsuit. I’ve always struggled to combine it with pants, and now I realize why: in years past, the prevailing silhouette was lower rises and skinny pants, and this jacket looks best with a higher rise and wide legs! So after years of neglecting it, I feel like I finally figured it out. Evidence that sometimes it pays off to keep an item that you love even if it’s not getting worn. </p> <p>Pants: Athleta<br /> Sneakers: Adidas<br /> Tee: Madewell<br /> Jacket: Leitmotiv</p> <p>Bonus: sleepy Woody curled up with his pillow, and my favorite ferns in the woods behind our house </p>
