Beth Ann - I never wear button downs. It is basically a bust issue. I have not been able to find one at a price point I am willing to pay that fits properly. If they fit through the bust, they hang like a tent. At around the $200 price point this gets rectified, but as we may or may not have another baby, I am not willing to invest (our first baby really changed.

I love jackets - the way they look, the way they up the style quotient of an outfit. These are huge holes in my wardrobe, and I am actively on the prowl for them!

Lovely sweater --- and it is helpful to post often. Sometimes I get the best feedback from looks that need a little somethin' somethin'! I think you would do well to invest in some longer scarves and neckalces to bring interest up to your face. Also, do you wear jackets or woven blouses much? I love knits, and wear them for their comfy look and ease of care, but I love the structure in the shoulders and vertical lines of my woven blouses and jackets and have added to this part of my wardrobe since YLF. Because I run warm and like to move a lot, I like lightweight floaty wovens best. Don't know if this is helpful, but I though I'd throw it out there!

Lots of good suggestions. Definitely like scrunching the sleeves and a blouse underneath. Burgundy is a great color for you!

i do wear bracelets too, just not on the hand which I grab my mouse with.

As far as spicing up, dang, you have the perfect blank canvas there. What about a layering blouse like in #1 and # 2?

I will have to check into the cuff/watch thing. I love the look of a chunky gold cuff, but I have not put one on my list because of the computer issue.

While I one day strive to have weekend style, right now my focus is on work. Baby steps!

I too find bracelets jangly when working on a computer, but always wear a chunky watch. Maybe because it fits close to the wrist, it isn't as bothersome. Ditto the comments on you in burgundy...it's a great color on you!

Echoing the ladies that you look great in burgundy! I type on a computer with shirt cuffs very frequently - AND I wear wrist braces! It can be done no problem at all.

You've already got great suggestions but I will just add that my work at home outfits are simple like this, too. And I understand about your disinclination to wear a cuff at the computer. Although I do have one that I like to wear -- I am not sure why it doesn't seem to interfere with things. Maybe you can experiment. I think bangles are much worse for that.

That is a great color on you. I like the suggestions you've received. Scrunching the sleeves will help liven this up. I firmly believe fun shoes can make even the most basic outfit awesome.

Lovely outfit indeed, and I agree that the burgundy is a wonderful colour on you. Love all the extra ideas from the other lasses. You could also try a patterned or colour-blocked shoe or bootie to add visual interest or switch things up.

Thistle - The burgundy color looks wonderful on you. I too work at a computer all day and find cuffs and other braclets to be bothersome. I think a chuky gold necklace or perhaps a scarf with a gold pin would look fab. Just keep asking and the fab ladies of YLF will give lots of helpful feedback and before long you'll be at the next level.

I have a white long sleeved v-neck I could have worn underneath. Thanks for the tips, I will totally do that next time!

As for the cuffs, I will have to think on that. I ususally wear nothing on my arms as I am at a computer all day long, so they tend to drive me nuts and get put in my desk drawer by 9am!

Could easily add a necklace though!

Just had another idea! If the underlying white v-neck is long-sleeved, you could pull those sleeves down, scrunch up the burgundy sweater, and then fold the white sleeves back so they make a "cuff" for the burgundy sweater. This will also help break up the solid line of the burgundy sweater sleeves lining up with the bottom of the sweater.

Here's an example from today's blog...except it's a button-down, but you get the idea!

I'm a huge burgundy fan. I also love simplicity. I think you could easily add a cuff or a necklace or a scarf just to elevate it from good to great.

Things to add:

scrunch the arms of your sweater to expose some forearm, and add a gold watch (or other interesting watch).

you could also add a scarf if you like to wear them.

Love that burgundy color on you! It's one of my favorite colors this season! You look great! How about adding a necklace or bracelet? Also it's hard to tell from the pic, but maybe the hems of your pants might need to be let out a little--they might be a little short. You want the hems to fall about 1/2 inch from the floor so if your shoes have a heel like that, the pants have to be longer.

Hope your daughter feels better soon!

As part of my fashion resolution, I promised myself I would post more WiWs in my style journey. Then my DD gets sick and I am racing to find something for work. So, I went to a fall back, but added in some YLF touches, like layering the V-necks.

Wine Sweater - Banana Republic
White t-shirt - GAP
Grey "skinny" trousers - Talbots
Booties - Tayrn Rose

Any suggestions on taking this to the next level welcome!
