I do find that wearing handmade knits gives a bit of varied texture to my otherwise neutral outfits. This top was a bit of a slog though, 2x2 rib on 2,5 mm needles (saying this as I have just cast on for another one in black...). As I was knitting it I kept calling it the dishcloth, as the color/rib/yarn combination reminded me of that. It turned out better than anticipated, fortunately!</p> <p><b>Jules&nbsp;</b>- I have always been quite conservative in regards to trousers, both shape and color, because I don't like drawing attention to my lower half. I have been thinking for a while that I need to get over that, and have been wanting to try some lighter colored pants (actually working on a diy in linen at the moment). Rather than minimal or plain I see confidence that you know what you like and how to style it for that ‘effortless’ vibe.</p> <p>In terms of proportions i do see an X shape; I think the black pants recede just a little bit visually in photos and a lighter coloured pant, or maybe something more exaggeratedly wide like a culotte, could also be interesting. Don’t know if you wear denim but jeans would be an easy swap in these outfits. Cropped and wide, or long and loose for a different vibe. First of all I have to say that I am amazed at the wonderful outfit photos that all you ladies post on here - taking outfit selfies is hard! Hopefully I’ll improve over time. </p> <p>I am currently staying with family as our apartment is under renovation, so I am basically living out of a suitcase for the time being, but I thought I’d give it a go. The weather here turned quite quickly recently, going from 10C to 25C pretty much overnight, and I don’t have a big selection of warm weather clothes with me, but thankfully I have my favorite summer pants, so here I am wearing them on repeat.</p> <p>This is is my most worn formula in the summer - loose high waist pants and cropped vest top. </p> <p>The pants are a linen/viscose blend from H&amp;M that I have had for at least five years. They are starting to wear out and I need to start thinking about a replacement. I have a love/hate relationship with linen though. I love how it feels, and I <i>want</i> to be able to embrace the creasing, but whenever I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror halfway through the day I am dejected at how crumpled I look. </p> <p>The first top is one I just finished knitting (Wietske Tank by Steffie Studio) in a bamboo/cotton yarn. I love a good ribbed knit, and I love the shape of the armholes on this, though unfortunately it is not very bra friendly. </p> <p>The second top is right on the border of being too sweet for me, but I think the fact that it is sleeveless makes it work somehow. I do love a pretty eyelet top. </p> <p>The third vest has been a favorite of mine this spring, it’s a cotton knit. When it was colder I wore it layered over a t-shirt or turtleneck, but I much prefer it this way. While I would never call my style boho (and don’t really like the style term - is there another one I could use?), I do love a nod to it.</p> <p>I found that taking outfit pictures made me notice things in a very different way from just looking in the mirror, so it’s absolutely something I want to continue. Some things I noted here were:</p> <p>I do love minimalism and simplicity in my outfits, but I definitely need to up my accessory game. Not necessarily in wearing more of it, but more interest in the ones I do wear, like bags and shoes. A bag with some wicker detail for the summer perhaps? These pants have a self belt, but the plastic buckle broke earlier this week, so I am just tying it at the waist. I rarely wear belts, but looking at these images I think a proper leather belt would be better with these pants. Unfortunately I don’t have one with me.</p> <p>I like wearing tops that emphasize my shoulders, in an attempt to balance out my hips. Looking at these photos I almost look top heavy, but I think that must be some distortion due to camera angle, because my shoulders really aren’t very wide. But perhaps I am successful in my balancing attempts?</p> <p>I am happily leaning into neutrals for my summer wardrobe. I have always felt that I need to try to be more colorful, for the summer especially, but I’ve kept ending up with <i>fun</i> items that I just never wear. So I’ve decided to just embrace my neutral style, however boring it might seem to others.</p>
