Thanks to you all, I felt fab most of the time. It was indeed an amazing trip. DH and I had not been in NYC for nearly 30 years. It is a glorious city - a trip of a lifetime indeed. 9 nights was nowhere near enough to scratch the surface and we went hard. Museums, shows, many long walks. Then a lovely 7 day cruise with my sis and her hubs. DH is all about more is more when it comes to travel, and the empty nest is helping.</p> <p>Christina - you are so lucky to be able to subscribe to the Met. I may try to see something in San Francisco if we are down during the season. After Rigoletto at the Sydney Opera House this summer and our Met experience (with backstage tour from our best man/college roommate who now works there, complete with the best gossip) - we are spoiled. YLF helped me put together a dressy capsule this fall which performed beautifully on my recent big trip. I wanted to show you and say thanks for the all the help.</p> <p>I had wonderful 9 day trip to New York City and a Northeast US/Canada cruise, and really felt my wardrobe worked well (ah the luxury of a checked bag!). I was particularly happy with my dressy attire. Two nights at the Metropolitan Opera (Aida and La Fancuilla del West) and two cruise ship formal nights were no match for YLF!</p> <p>The navy jumpsuit arrived two days before I was flying out and I almost returned it as the fit was not perfect and there was no time to get it tailored. But I loved it so much, I had the alterations done at the new Nordstrom's Manhattan mens store. A small take up of the shoulder to move the waist to the right spot (I'm shortwaisted even for a petite size) and small hem and it was perfect. SO glad I didn't send it back! It is hard to see the satin neck band and side tux stripe, but those sleek details match my style descriptors. Wore it with the rhinestone drop earrings, but then found the perfect NYC souvenir - Kate Spade Sputnik earrings in Finds - &nbsp;just like the Met Opera chandeliers.</p> <p>The raspberry and navy lace dress nearly didn't even get a try-on as it was a Misses size which almost never fit my short upper body. But I took a chance (yay to B&amp;M shopping) and it was a winner (very petite-friendly) which got the YLF thumbs up. I wore it with my mother's black pearl ring and her marcasite rose shoe clips which I made into earrings. The way the rose pattern picked up the lace pattern inspired me. I rarely wear nice jewelry and it is so special to have these pieces of my mom's.</p> <p>I was so delighted that I did not settle, and that I left no retail stone unturned. I'm learning! </p>
