These outfits are lovely, Christy, and I particularly love the jacket and top in #5, in fact the total look, and the dress in #2. But, each outfit is perfection in style and you really know yourself and show it!

I especially love the way you realistically face those decisions when something isn't working, like the ill-fitting shoes or the cute bag with the not-just-right shape. It's good to move on and get on to what works for you. These photos show it! Outstanding!!

You look so good in all photos! My personal favourites are 4 and 5. You wear the style so well, it was made for you. Sorry about the camel shoes. But you've got the right attitude. And the right outfits too!

Theodora - thanks for the suggestion! I did try having them stretched and it just wasn't enough...bummer!

Angie - we never actually pinned them and probably should have. But while they aren't quite the right length, I don't think I'll have them taken up any more. However, the next pair will get your eagle eye length approval!

Christy, did we really pin the blue pants that long? To my eye, they would still look better shorter. But then - that's just my opinion. You are free to do as you wish, of course

Christy you make me yearn for my days past of corporate dressing *sigh*. I adore everything here. I am sorry about the shoes in #1, they are just gorgeous but I agree if they are not comfortable, they should go.

I also hear you re the bag in #3. This would perhaps be more suited to weekend/casual wear??

#4 is gorgeous and I can see it with the white button down, specially for work. I love those pants!

And #5 is truly elegant. This looks so easy to wear and effortlessly chic.

All gorgeous.

Fabulous outfits-you look amazing! I love #1 especially.
Now, maybe it's because I am so old that I know these things, but have you thought of bringing the shoes to a shoe-repair place? They can stretch them, if they are made of leather. Or you can get a shoe stretcher, and do it yourself. I have wide feet, so I do it all the time! Doesn't work with fabric, though.

Fabulous bunch of outfits, Christy! Very smart and sharp all through. That leather and olive outfit is a favourite for the silhouette and neutral variations though.

I see your point about the bag --- the structure of the stone vs the snakeskin's softness alters the overall vibe of the outfit quite a bit. Maybe the snakeskin's slouch is much too casual or holiday/weekend-ish for your work style.

Pity about the shoes, though, especially as nudes *are* so hard to match up. Wishing you good shoe hunting!

Aw, thanks everyone!

Angie, I see the Ann Taylor pants still don't meet your criteria! I did have them shortened - not short enough?

Shannon, I'm not at home, so I can't check to be certain but I'm almost positive that I bought the regular, not petite in this dress to get some extra length. I'm 5'2" and usually do wear petite. Just an FYI that you might want to give both a try. If you'd like me to confirm for certain just PM me and I'll let you know when I get home tomorrow.

Thanks NPM!
Amy & Shannon, that dress in #2 took some convincing by Angie to keep. I felt really self-conscious in it at first because it felt a bit too form fitting. Now I'm really glad I kept it. Shannon, you should give it a shot! The ruching at the waist is a huge plus for my apple shape!
Zapotee, thanks for the hint on the Seychelles. I definitely want to replace these with something similar so I'm off to take a look after this!
Thanks sarah - at least it's a good time of year to be looking for light shoes, right?
MNsara, it took some time to get used to the leather skirt, but now I really love it. I've been surprised at how versatile it is.
Christieanne, I liked the way #4 looked here and will wear it again. For this particular conference, the blue pants were enough of a statement on their own (no one else would have worn them!) so I thought it was appropriate to tone it down a bit. But I will wear this particular combo again soon!
Vix, thanks for the comments on the family photos. I'm thrilled with them and SO glad we did it! Thanks for the suggestion on the shoes - I've actually already taken them to Nordies to get them stretched and it didn't help. Time to let them go....

Hi Christy --

First, life has been nutty the last month so a very belated comment on your vacation photos (the look in your avatar) -- the family portraits were beautiful and you in that multi-colored top = stunning.

From the looks of these photos you didn't have much trouble getting back in the swing at all, ha.

They are all great but #1 and #5 are especial favorites. Man, I just love the olive jacket on you...it's a total favorite style of mine that I've yet to make work personally so I will be living vicariously. You are a 40s siren in that jacket with pencil skirt!

ps Unless you just want to pass the shoes along, why not take them to a shoe repair shop for stretching? It's generally about $8 and IMextensiveE money well spent.

Life is way too short to suffer for shoes (especially because there are always more out there) - I so agree. I also understand about your slouchy bag. I did some bag purging recently and it was all my slouchy styles that ended up in the "never use" pile. Python or snakeskin with structure would be a dream. And pop so well against your modern classics!

Looks like a great week for you - the cobalt crops with black blazer is my favorite even with the stripes. I do really like the shape of your olive blazer on you as well.

Wow, but you rock that leather skirt! I think I have to rpint that one out for my inspiration file -- I have worn my leather skirt once last year and wasn't happy about it all day :-(

Every outfit is incredibly polished, proportioned perfectly, flattering (I think you're actually fairly petite, yet you've managed to avoid any stumpifying and come out tall and lean!).

I'm enjoying your colored pants here - you still look professional and put together

P.S. I'm over the large slouchy bags too. They seem to make an outfit look less put together. . .I think they still look okay enough with a tailored trench coat, but. . .

You are such an inspiration. I love #2 and #3.
I'm sorry to hear those VC did not work out. I cannot deal with uncomfortable shoes. I so understand. I'm not sure if you are looking for a replacement but Seychelles has a shoe very similar to the VCs in #1. The brand is usually very comfortable. I think the style name is clue.

Chritsty! I love your posts. #1 is outstanding. I really like that olive topper and the leather skirt. It's too bad about the shoes, but you'll be happier with something that doesn't make you hurt.

The dress in #2 is fantastic.

#3-5 are great too. I see what you mean about the bag, though. It's a little amorphous for your style.

They need no improvement.

Catching up a bit here! This was two weeks ago, just after getting back from vacation.

1. The weather was still a bit cool so I decided to pull out my leather skirt. Probably won't wear it very often as we head into summer. I paired it with my Classiques olive jacket, Foxcroft white button down and Sam Edelman camel heels.
2. Suzi Chin dress with B Makowsky animal print heels and B Makowsky stone bag.
3. The first day of a 3-day work conference. Elie Tahari jacket, T Tahari indigo pants, J Jill navy shell under the jacket (which you can't see), Nine West snakeskin print heels, Steve Madden snakeskin print bag.
4. The conference was business casual, so I decided to wear my Ann Taylor cobalt cropped pants with my Tahari black suit jacket. I actually swapped out the striped top for a white button down which worked much better, but didn't take a picture. The striped top with the cropped pants just felt TOO casual. Worn with BCBG black peep-toe heels.
5. This was the last day of the conference and a Saturday. Much more dressed down. Gibson black riding jacket, Halogen camel top, Michael Kors black skinny pants, Steve Madden cognac slides.

A couple of observations:
1. The Sam Edelman shoes in #1 have officially made it to the toss pile - they are so uncomfortable that I have to take them off when I'm at my desk. I kept hoping they'd stretch out a bit but it's just not happening - life is too short to wear shoes that hurt, right? 2. I've come to a conclusion about the bag in #3: I love the print - it's so versatile! But I don't love the style. I need a more structured bag - it's now on my list.

Thanks for looking and suggestions for improvement always welcome!
