I bought it about 2 years ago and it has grown on me. I am often impressed at the quality of fabrics that JCrew use - the cotton in this dress is lovely and cool to wear.</p> <p>UmmLila - you were wise to buy the summer dresses when you saw them.</p> <p>JenniNZ - My parents were the same, they loved the 'proper' Christmas dinner. Now we have an extended family celebration with a selection of roast turkey, ham and smoked salmon with salads. We had the same issue. My mother’s father was English and she was brought up with that, and Neil’s family often had those too. I think it was a general thing in the generation above us. I was intending to hack it, but thought I would get some wear from it as a maxi and have enjoyed the longer length. When I am bored of it being long, I will convert it to a traditional sun dress.</p> <p>Robin, I agree, the white dress is a nice clean look and a refreshing change up from some of my maximal dresses.</p> <p>Suntiger, the only problem with a summer Christmas is when people insist on serving roast dinners for Christmas lunch. As for the Gucci sandals, I am lucky that mine are lower (at about 2 inches) than the ones in Finds - that was the only picture I could find for them. They are surprisingly comfortable for heels and are my favourite 'going out shoes'.
