Caro, thanks!

Ecteacher, a pencil skirt sounds like a good idea, although I think the only one I own is denim. I know Angie had an ensemble post a few weeks ago about skirts and oversized sweaters.

Naz, I remember your love of plaids! This is the only piece I have in plaid (and probably one of my few patterns that isn't a basic stripe) but I do enjoy the colors. You might be right about the wide neck but I always feel a little strangled in tighter necklines. There must be a happy medium, right?

Hey there. I'm loving the plaid shirt on you mainly because I'm drawn to plaid and patterns, but those colors looks great on you too. While I like a turtleneck and that teal color looks fab, I think the neck is too big. You might need something more tapered like a mock neck.

Dee, I love the colour and collar of the teal turtleneck in #3. I'd wear it with a navy pencil skirt, leggings (for warmth) and boots. (My DM knitted me a grey turtleneck with a big roll collar which I wear with a navy pencil skirt, leggings and boots.)

Aubergine, I agree that when it's cold out, all other concerns are secondary! That's why I bought the teal sweater a couple of years ago - it has high wool content and is very cozy, but you're right that it's much preppier than my usual style. Maybe I need to not split wears and just enjoy the turtleneck dress that is more "me" and even warmer! It's just always hard to let go of things that fit and are in good condition...

TG and Meredith, I'm supposed that such a casual look is getting such love but thanks! I often shy away from posting my super casual looks.

Angie, thanks for weighting in! As a petite, I can probably get overwhelmed quickly by volume but now I've got the seal of approval! :)

Suz, streamlined is a great descriptor! I'd been trying all year to add a bit more arty/edginess to my look. Again, my problem with the teal sweater! And moving made me purge even more so I'm much closer to my goal of a smaller yet more enjoyable/functional wardrobe.

Eva, thanks! I am glad (much like you, I assume) to finally be settled in enough to enjoy the season.

I looked at these pics before reading & loved the teal turtleneck. So clearly I think you've styled it well! :)

You look great in those sweater dresses & the colours of that plaid complement you beautifully. Looks like you've been having a good fall!

Dee, the dress in #5 looks amazing on you! Really great. I actually like all these outfits. I feel as if your style is more assured and streamlined somehow. Are you feeling that way, too?

4 is my fav! For the tneck dress, you could try adding some printed tights (obviously without the boots so you can see the pattern). I tried that earlier this fall and really enjoyed it.

So many great outfits! And the meetup was indeed awesome!

Love the fit and color of the flannel and the coziness of the sweater dress (don't think it's too much, but I'm not sure it's possible to have too much sweater on cold days). For the sweater in #3, I think the color looks great on you, but the style does seem very classic/preppy, which may not be your thing, so it may be worth passing on if you're not really wearing it much. The top and necklace in #4 really complement each other so well! And, finally, I really liked the cardigan in #5 in person, and it looks equally great buttoned up.

Thanks Firecracker! I have been all about drape and volume lately. And I'm glad you think the turtleneck looks flattering! I do like the color, which is why I bought it a few years ago, but maybe the lack of drape/volume is part of my current problem with it.

These are great outfits, Dee. I like your drapey trend here. The dress is voluminous, yes, but it looks so cozy the way you're wearing it. I don't think it's too much. You can always scrunch the sleeves, if it's warm enough to do so, to give a little more of a structured feel.
I like the turtleneck on you. It's a flattering fit and color, and I like it with your jeans and boots. If you're over it, though, there's nothing wrong with moving on. If you let it go, you'll make room for something else that you feel fab wearing.

I haven't posted in awhile but over the last month I've moved and started a new job so I haven't had a ton of time to check in on the forum. On the one hand, I did make it to the recent YLF DC Meetup and met some awesome ladies. On the other, I spent the first few weeks unpacking in sweats, so not a lot of great photos.

Here's what I've worn over the last month that's worth posting:
1) My "flannel" shirt (see Find below) and one of my few button downs. I was happy with the pattern and the fact that it was more drapey than some of the others I've tried. Lucky shirt, AG jeans, Easy Spirit loafers.

2) For one of our coldest days so far. This dress is big and drapey all over and is probably a bit in terms of volume for me, but I liked the oversized 80s vibe. And it's super cozy, so I see it getting a lot of winter wear. Aritzia dress, Athleta leggings, Timberland boots.

3) This sweater might be a bit too basic for my current tastes. I don't know if there's anything wrong it but I never feel fab in it. Then again, I'm not sure how to make a cable knit turtleneck look fab? Suggestions welcome! Or should I just let it go? BR sweater, Lucky jeans, Timberland boots.

4) Casual weekend look. I love this draper hi-lo sweater. I bought it last year and it's been a total workhorse. EF sweater, AG jeans, Josef Seibel sneakers.

5) I wore this long cardigan to the YLF meetup, but forgot to get a picture. Worn here more as a dress and I think it will go a long way toward varying my silhouette. Karen Millen cardigan, Athleta leggings, Loft top, Jcrew scarf, Timberland boots.

The black boots were a replacement after most of mine were recently purged due to medical issues and I see them getting a lot of wear this winter. There's not as much silhouette variation as I'd like because in the winter, I often default to jeans or leggings tucked into boots. But other styling suggestions and comments are welcome! Thanks for looking!
