CJH, you are too sweet. It was pure, dumb luck. I was out shopping with the mission of finding a couple of bottoms - cheap - to get me through the summer, and I stumbled across it at Winners. $20. So I grabbed it, reasoning that it was better than capris because I could wear it into cooler weather. I must admit, it's got me hooked. I intend to wear it a couple of times a week as long as I can, because I'm not sure how long it will fit. But then, if my weight loss slows to only a pound a month again, it could be quite a while... ;o)

I only have a minute this evening, but I logged especially to say you have the best denim skirt I've seen on YLF, ever! The white t and colorful scarf make you look sharp, cool and confident. Fresh and energetic, despite being worn out. Hope you "recovered" from the hard day quickly.

Deborah, it varies how long. In this case, seeing as my resources were already pretty low, it will probably take several days of quiet to get over it. I'm feeling slowly, progressively better, but after a bad night last night I decided I would lie low today. Just slow puttering around the house and on the computer.

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm really enjoying the denim skirt/Tshirt look myself. My first denim skirt ever, except for the bibbed maxi in my teens. And yes, I've been duplicating. I've got a couple of 3/4 sleeve Ts in white now, as well as my button down. And a black pencil skirt on tap, seeing as it seems to be a flattering style for me. And as the need for new clothes makes itself felt (I figure losing the last 15 pounds will probably drop me another size), I do firmly intend to get a lot of white. I suspect it will be my go-to colour for tops.

Scarlet, thanks for noticing the other outfit, LOL! The outfit was not a killer, I knew that all along. But I figure if I'm going to wear beige, it's better spattered with red, right?

And beige/tan is probably a colour I will be doing less of. I think it used to look better on me when my hair was still brown.

5 boys under 5 and moving!! That makes me tired just thinking about it. I also really like the crispness of the scarf and color scheme in 1. The colors of your top in 4 really suit you too in a totally different way. Maybe you need to duplicate some white items :o)

JR CF is no fun, you must have needed to take it easy once you got home.does it take long for you to recover from a day like that? As a mum of one I find it very amusing to be in the company of a small number of young children and the craziness and energy they display:). I then come home to my quieter home with my love,y boy who enjoys his own company as much as he enjoyed the company of others....peace *sigh*

It was fun, but totally exhausting. I was losing patience with the little ones by the end of the day. I have chronic fatigue, but I was feeling pretty good in the morning, so I went. I think I overestimated my capacity.

Thanks Suz. I was figuring I would be glad of an extra something in air-conditioning. And because the scarf is real silk (I have so few!), it breathes better in the heat than polyester.

Thanks Angie and everyone.

The only problem with white is that is does not co-exist very well with my tendency to spill all over myself. I am a klutz, I'm afraid, and white clothing rarely gets worn twice before needing laundering. True story: I bought a cream-coloured between-season coat this spring, and spilled coffee all down the front of it the second time I wore it. Thank goodness for same day dry-cleaning, because I was travelling and didn't have other options. *sigh*

Shabby, I just lucked out. Found this at Winner's (the Canadian equivalent of Marshall's) one day when the mission was to find a couple more "bottoms" to get me through the summer. A jeans skirt will carry me nicely right up to full Canadian winter too, with the addition of tights or leggings.

JJ, these things are learnable. ;o) And scarves are magic wands: they can change the feel of an outfit immediately, provide extra warmth, change to another shape as need or fashion dictates. I love them more with every passing year. Mai Tai's blog and another called Playing With Scarves are great places to start. My stepmother gave me one of those little books on scarf tying years ago, which got me started.

LOL, Una! Yes, I did. I probably would have swapped out the shoes if I had actually gone shopping, but my black sandals have gold bling on them, so I'm not too sure they would have made the cut. Silver sandals would probably have been great here, but I don't have any yet.

Thank you, Ceit. That has been one of the great take-home lessons for me from YLF: wear more white!

#1 is what I planned to wear shopping. #2 was an alternative scarf. #3 was what I actually ended up with, seeing as DIL coopted me to help babysit and unpack in their new house. We had five little boys under five, and four women. It often required two babysitters so the other two could work, LOL! The belt is new, what do you think? The blue scarf is my favourite, real Italian silk, bought in Venice as my only souvenir of that Italian trip. :o)

#4: started the day in capris and spilt coffee all over them. These pants are made for a smaller-waisted woman, so I don't reach for them very often. By the time the waist fits, the seat and thighs will probably bag out all over the place. Oh well, they were handed to me by my mother, so I don't feel too frustrated by it.

Both days were too hot to bother even thinking about another layer, especially because they were both spent far from air conditioning. I am so looking forward to fall this year: I have too few hot-weather bottoms to avoid falling in a rut.
