Well if you like it and it look great, as it does, does it matter if we call it a neutral or not?

OMG chili is beautiful! Additionally, regarding your outfit column of cherry or whatever the fashion people are calling it this season.--it's really nice! I love that color, and if you like it and feel good in it, it's trending which often makes it easier to find in stores. Good luck!

I love burgundy but it’s really hard to find for summer. Instead I have summer pieces called things like Rust, Cinnamon and Clay. None of them really match but they all work well with my other neutrals.

I love burgundy and cranberry and I think you may get lucky if you keep your eyes open and watch and wait. Here is my collection. I wear it more as a colour than a neutral, but I agree with Sisi that it functions as a kind of neutral. One advantage I see of this colour is that it seems to work well (in slightly different tones) for those who have warm and cool colouring and works as well with blonde as with silver hair. Having worn it as a blonde and as a silver-haired person, I have experimented in person!

My current burgundy and burgundy adjacent capsule. Sometimes the looks I create with this are tonal, but it works....

Admittedly, some of these items IRL are more cranberry than burgundy. A coupl veer closer to magenta or plum or orchid. And one or two are more like rust or chili. But I can actually wear all of these in a mix and match way and with blue or true reds (esp. if in a pattern with white.)

Not all are solids, of course, so they aren't neutrals.

Items that can be worn in spring/ summer as well as autumn or winter include the Theory suit and the Boden skirt. The Dries van Noten pants are spring/ summer/ early autumn -- they are linen-cotton blend and have a burgundy stripe. The Aritzia pants are fall/ winter/spring (too hot for summer). The Vince silk dress (that I made into a blouse) is spring/ summer/ autumn -- not really warm enough for winter.

My thoughts -- if you want to make it a year round neutral, pick up whatever you can find across all seasons, but also look for it in patterns that include your lighter summer neutrals, until you can find what you'd like in a solid. Those will allow you to mix it in and feel as if it is a genuine part of your wardrobe.

Oh, yeah. What is that, a burgundy or wine? Definitely, definitely a neutral. I notice the more stylish women I see tend to tweak colors like this into neutral territory. This would also look great with patterns, like a black and white scarf. Or just even some dramatic black, in general!

YES, anchie! Burgundy can be your dark neutral. Why not! I believe it is with Brooklyn and Suntiger too. You wear it beautfully!

Burgundy is about to trend so there will be more of it!

Of course it is! This looks great and would go with everything! The colour looks so amazing with your lime bag. Hello Chili, you're so sweet!

For spring and summer, if you can't find clothing items in this colour, look for accessories Ex. bracelets (I am reading that large bangles are "back", bags, scarves, shoes, belts, etc.)

Sisi - I think it is burgundy, but also sometimes called dark red or cherry.

Zaeobi - plum is another very beautiful versatile dark color.

Dee - Unfortunately, I have it in the form of cashmere sweater and cord pants so strictly winter items, this is probably their last outing, getting too warm for them.

Brooklyn - I was thinking about burgundy linen pants, that would be perfect, but you are probably right, it will not be easy to find. Maybe cranberry or dark red could work instead?

I love burgundy and it looks great on you. But I think it’s a colour you will have trouble finding in Spring/Summer items. (Ask me how I know.) I don’t think I have ever seen burgundy linen pants for instance. What about red? I know Angie regards it as a neutral and I think it’s a colour you like? I think it would be much easier to find in Summer.

I’d say that this colour works as a fab dark neutral and the fact that it goes well with all your other neutrals and favourite brights is icing on the cake. Don’t worry so much that its a little scarce at retail, you’ve got 2 key pieces already. I’m sure more will appear when you least expect it .

Yes, burgundy is what I like to call a pseudo neutral. It looks great on you! Can see it paired with your cream boots too. Though Chili is the best accompaniment to burgundy

Plum (dark purple) functions in that same way in my wardrobe - I wear it with everything from 'true' neutrals (like chocolate brown) to 'true' colours (like orange, teal & yellow).

I see burgundy, right? If it it goes well with a lot of your colors, I think you can consider it a neutral. I like this color on you, nice outfit! Chili is a lucky kitty.

I know this is the stretch but can’t this be considered neutral outfit? This is the almost only dark color that I like to wear, feel good in it and always get compliments on. I find it easy to combine, I think it goes with all my neutrals - whites, creams, camels, grays, even navy. I like it with my favorite brights - see how it pops against my lime bag. I can even see it with some pastels like light blue. Only problem is - it is so difficult to find. What is the verdict, is it neutral enough?
Bonus photo, Chili chilling this morning in the sun.
