Thank you so much. The grow out was not exactly intentional — I did not go to the salon from February until September. In September I did go for a quick haircut, just to help shape the layers a bit but I decided to keep most of the length. I’m growing out the asymmetrical short side (the awkward length over my ear is hidden now as I moved my part to the other side). </p> <p>The color is growing out though. I am not willing to sit in a salon for the hours it takes to do professional color, so for now I’m just awkwardly letting the natural color emerge. I feel like I have tweed hair! The dark brown with grey at the crown, the darker remnants of my covered grey in the middle, and the light ends, where there used to be blazes of blue/teal but now it just shows up as brassy bleached bits.</p> <p>I’m not quite sure where I’ll end up with it, although I do like the sort of updated long shag look, and it suits my hair texture well. I’ve gotten enough compliments on my hair even as it is now that I guess I’m not doing too badly! I did similar when I was working from home. I was going in to the office a couple of days a week and didn't always know ahead of time which days. I’m finding that a good strategy for me is to wear something simple and casual as a base, like in this outfit. Then, if/when I need to go out, I can add a jacket, scarf and maybe certain shoes if the mood strikes that give a more dressed up, polished impression. It makes me happier than just throwing on the same old utilitarian jacket, even if it’s just an hour out like I had to do today for a quick extra grocery trip and a stop at the lighting store to pick up a repaired fixture. </p> <p>When I got back home, the jacket and scarf come off and I’m wearing something easy to cook or clean in. </p> <p>It’s just the same AG jeans I wore yesterday plus a black pullover hoodie. Added black Frye combat boots, dark teal Minkoff wool moto, and my old galaxy scarf that seems to magically go with every dark blue-teal-black topper I own. </p> <p>I actually blow-dried my hair today so it’s straighter than usual. That seems to emphasize the line of demarcation in my hair color and make my natural color more noticeable. </p>
