I read somewhere that sometimes when leather starts to dry out, producers will use inexpensive oils like fish oil to moisturize them; I think that's what happened with this unfortunate batch. So annoying as the Aritzia one is a touch more delicate and refined than the one I ended up with - although it has been a workhorse, so I can't complain too much I did have a go at buckling this one differently to show the full circles, but alas, no go.
