Love the plaid shirts and layered necklaces. I was in AZ in March and saw none of those sights! Though I did see others. Sad tale of woe, the only time I have been to the Grand Canyon (21 years ago) I stood right in the rim and saw literally nothing … it was so densely foggy it was like looking at a blank sheet of paper. Had to leave before it cleared up. For this I missed being home in Boston when the Red Sox won the World Series!! It's been a great way to see how Christmas is celebrated everywhere. We had lovely weather during our trip, clear skies everyday. And AZ is such an outdoorsy place, I whipped out all my plaid for this trip. :)</p> <p><b>slim cat, Star,</b> and <b>Jaime</b> - Thank you for the kind words and for looking!</p> <p><b>RobinF</b> - I've seen the Grand Canyon twice, once by helicopter with my sister, we were coming from Las Vegas and this round with DH via the train coming from AZ. I highly recommend the train. It's very pretty and the tour we did, allowed us to make multiple stops throughout the day at various lookout parts along the canyon. The train itself was also quite entertaining, musical acts and marshall's roam the train and interact with passengers, you're never bored. </p> <p>The helicopter option is also a nice way to see the canyon, but a lot of those tours are fly in and out. I did an option where the helicopter set down inside the canyon, but you have very limited areas to walk around and are only on the ground for about 30 min.</p> <p>Both options are good, it depends how long you want to spend there.</p> <p><b>delurked</b> - Great points about Flagstaff. We made our way up there too (we drove all over the state during our visit). There's some lovely things to see around there, but it's certainly much colder the farther north you go! :)</p> <p><b>kellygirl</b> - That's so exciting that you have a home there! DH and I talked about relocating there at some point, it's a beautiful state, especially if you like outdoor activities.</p> <p><b>Angie </b>- *happily collects killer rating* I knew for this trip I wanted to wear all my plaid, it's perfect for the great outdoors. AZ was lovely to visit, I especially appreciated the different terrains as we drove around to the various cities. And I agree, the Grand Canyon is worth a visit. I've seen it both from air and land, and it was a treat each time.</p> <p><b>Dee </b>- AZ and especially Sedona are lovely to visit. Lots of people visit Montezuma Castle, but fewer make it to Montezuma Well, which is also nice. I have never heard of the butterfly conservatory in Scottsdale. So glad you got to see so many beautiful butterflies.</p> <p>Robin - if you end up near Flagstaff when you are at the Grand Canyon and have an extra day, I vote for spending an hour at Walnut Canyon (has lots of stairs) and then going to Painted Desert/Petrified Forest. (Bonus you can stand on a corner in Winslow AZ on your way). It's a beautiful state, with lots of outdoor hiking and sightseeing. I packed lots of plaid and good boots for hiking the rocky trails.</p> <p><b>#1 - Montezuma Castle</b><br />I wore this outfit on the plane and for the day while we visited a few sights. Montezuma castle was first, it's the cliff side dwelling behind me.</p> <p><b>#2 - Montezuma Well</b><br />Montezuma well was very pretty and has a number of trails to hike, it's worth a visit.</p> <p><b>#3 - Turtle necklace</b><br />The turtle necklace I picked up from the street vendor who sold frybread outside Montezuma Castle. (The other necklace is larimar from the Dominican Republic)</p> <p><b>#4 to #6 - Tuzigoot Monument</b><br />The plaid shirt I picked up on the way to the hotel from Montezuma well. I am on team wear so I paired it with the same tee from the day before (I febreezed the tee so I could rewear it). I really liked the truck pattern on the back of the plaid shirt.</p> <p><b>#7 to #9 - Sedona&nbsp;</b><br />Some of the views in Sedona and surrounding areas. It was slightly cooler this day so I paired a shacket with a henley top.</p> <p><b>#10 to #11 - Vortexes</b><br />We did an ATV tour and hike to some of the vortex sites. The copper sticks in my hands is me playing with the vortex energy.</p> <p><b>#12 to #14 - Southwestern Jewelry</b><br />There's a lot of Native Indian influenced jewelry in the shops, all done in silver. I picked up two bracelets, one with turquoise, the other with coral, onyx, turquoise, and opal. The necklace was a surprise gift from DH.</p> <p><b>#15 to #19 - Butterflies!</b><br />As you've probably guessed from my icon, I'm a big fan of butterflies. The Butterfly Conservatory in Scottsdale had many butterflies I've never seen in person before. Here's a few of my favorite's. The Blue Morpho (photos 17 and 18) was very difficult to catch open so you can see the pretty blue coloring.</p> <p><b>#20 to #22 - Grand Canyon</b><br />We took the train ride from Williams to the Grand Canyon, south rim.
