Beth Ann, thanks! No, the pants are basically unwearable. The belt isn't keeping them up right. I'm going to try sizing down.

You look terrific, Amy. Stunning sweater! I so hear you on PPP! Just remember that that none of the P's stand for "Pefect!" My one pair of skinnies (now 3 years old) are a little body con when I first put them on. I have to remember to dress first, rather than last, in the morning, because I need them to stretch for an hour or two before I like the fit. At least they stretch, more than bag out, if you know what I mean! Outside of the desperate need for the belt, do you like the looser look?

I love the colors in the sweater and jewelry! The tones are so rich and autumnal.

I'm short-waisted too and have long since resigned myself to mid-rise with a jacket or cardi to obscure my ridiculously high waist.

Your sweater looks amazing! I've been trying to sew some clothes and my hat is off to all who can do it so well. Good luck with the jeans as well. Mine always bag out as well, so I try to plan my outfits around it.

<waiving to my my BR t-neck twin> Very arty and very Amy! You look radiant in purple!
I SO hear you on jeans fit. It is not easy to find good fitting jeans and trousers for the girls with curves! However I found that if I ma not following PPP for them they sooner or later become orphans in my closet. Through sticking to PPP I have found a handful of brands which work for me and I am happy with them. I think you are similar in build with me so maybe this will help you as well:
For denim: Paige, Kut (for BF jeans, all other have too high rise)
For trousers: Martin fit in BR, Editors fit in Express. Sometimes I get lucky in Long Tall Sally if the rise it not "Tall"

This is a short list but I was able to gather a collection over the last couple of years so my lower half is not just covered but happy :-)

I always wear a belt, and I usually pick the larger end of my size. I don't wear them at my waist though, I like them snugged on my hip. I have noticed they stretch a bit but that's ok with me. The ones I am wearing today in my WIW are Always Skinny. So if you compare this morning (1) to this pic I just took below, (2) I guess they have stretched out a bit. I hate skin tight skinnies though so I might just be an outlier.

Thanks! I sewed the sweater using a sweater knit fabric. Much faster than knitting.

Ceit, I was pretty happy with these jeans when I put them on, but now they are at least a size larger. If I weren't wearing a belt, they'd be around my knees. Do yours do this?

Sweater: made by me
Turtleneck: Banana Republic...sized up for fluid fit
Jeans: Gap
Booties: Vince Camuto
Necklace: Forever 21???

So I lied about giving up on jeans and pants. These Gap jeans came in the mail yesterday, and while the fit isn't perfect and the rise is probably too high for a short-waisted person like myself to tuck tops into, they have several advantages:

(a) my backside doesn't hang out when I sit down
(b) they're comfortable
(c) They are sufficiently streamlined so I don't look too frumpy
(d) I can wear tall boots with them
(d) They're relatively inexpensive

PPP is a wonderful rule. It's prevented me from making some very serious ($$$) mistakes. If over zealously applied, it can lead to awkward holes in your wardrobe, like not having anything to cover up your lower half. Perhaps It's just me? When I had time enough to sew all of my own clothes, I could make sure they fit EXACTLY as I wished them to. I ended up with unrealistic expectations when it came to clothes off the rack.

Alterations are useful up to a point. I'm going to try sewing a couple of darts in the back waistband to cinch in the waist a bit. My belt is not keeping them quite where I want them. I'm not sure this will work with denim, because it may be too thick. I don't really want to take the waistband off and do more extensive alterations. I tried that once and found that the manufacturer had left hardly any fabric in the seams for me to work with. It didn't go well. Hats off to tailors who know what they're doing!
