It's not too shortening due to the pointy toe, and the ankle strap makes the whole thing a bit trendier looking (plus it's a bit funkier with flats, versus the more predictable heels). I think you certainly wear it without looking frumpy. The autumnal shades in #2 look great, they're still quite saturated so they function similarly to your usual bright/deep shades. Also quite like the slouchy tall boots, I think you'll have fun with those. #3 is a great casual-sporty look. The black wave stripe is really clever looking with the rest of the black in the outfit, and the patent flats do a great job at keeping the look intentional. And #4 looks very sharp on you, great new booties. I like flats with pencil skirts but typically I try a longer fluid top over the pencil and then a knee length pencil.
