I love these outfits! You look professional but still stylish and fun. That is not easy to do, so I applaud you:)

I really, really covet the Penney's skirt.

I love you in these pencil skirts, Beth Ann! The rose/red sweater and printed blouse are making me swoon. I love Lily's color palette too! I second the idea of trying her with a denim jacket. What a terrific skirt. I would wear it weekly, memorable or not!

These are both fab outfits! I really love the first look. I love the idea of the second look (no, the white shirt does not look haphazard or diaper-like!) but I think if the sweater were a teensy bit looser/boxier, it might look cooler. Just my two cents, of course. Love the skirt!

I love both outfits! I don't think the top in #1 is "safe" in any kind of bad way. It looks lovely and classic styled this way!

Those are fab stylings....I just love the way 1 works! the blouse and cardi and belt is perfect!

And oh yes, the new styling is sooo much more happening that the old one. Good step away from conservative!

Oh my Beth Ann! I'm absolutely drooling over outfit #2! I adore the short-over-long layering here and the colours and pattern in that skirt are gorgeous. Outfit #1 is beautiful as well. You have some lovely pieces in your wardrobe.

Thanks, all.

Debeorah: I love wrap tops and am always on the look for them -- I've decided they suit me even when they're not "on trend." Fit can be tricky, though.

Joy: I think I've adjusted my eye to the high contrast, but I had never considered (duh) denim! Thanks for the idea! I'm on the lookout for a black blouse.

Kiwi: Come on over to skirts! Lots of fun

Fruitfull: Thanks for the reminder -- sometimes just wearing something pretty is the best choice!

Both outfits look lovely to my eye. #1 looks like a great way to wear that top. The top also looks long enough for wearing with jeans or shorts.
#2 looks modern and stylish. If the white shirt doesn't feel right to you (it looks great), a shirt with less contrast like denim, teal or black might "feel" better still worn the same way.

Loving both of these. #1 is very stylish in it's simplicity. #2 is just lovely. Streamlined yet interesting. I was just playing around with a black wrap top I have had for years wondering if I should keep it. Thanks for the inspiration Beth Ann it is now back in rotation....I feel a copy cat coming on

The butterfly blouse is lovely as you've styled it! I totally get feeling like you "should" be doing something innovative, but actually enjoying wearing an outfit that happens to be "safe". Why reinvent the wheel every time we get dressed?

I actually think your layered Lily experiment is more flattering than your old way of wearing her! Despite breaking up your body you somehow look rather streamlined. Someone explain to me the geometry of this! (anthropometry??) You make great use of sleeve rolling and collar popping too - love this!

Still trying to remix!

This woven print top hasn't gotten much wear, even though I love the print, which is kind of a butterfly inspired floral. It may be a little "safe," but it was comfortable for a long day of work. This is the first time I've belted under a cardi. Belting "over" was a little bombshell for my work environment! Anyone has other suggestions for this top?

1. Pink Cardi from Gap
Woven sleeveless cowl top -- Carson's
Patent Belt -- Marshalls
Ponte skirt (old -- JCP)
Gray croc shoes, Naturalizer

The second outfit is a remix of the skirt I call "Lily," after the designer Lily Pulitzer. Of course, my version came from JCP (last year). The top of the skirt is yoked and high, so tucking the blouse in was not flattering. The "grinning" is due to the camera flash peeking through the weave of the sweater, but can't be seen IRL. Does the shirt look haphazard? Like a diaper? I plan to dress the skirt down when it's warmer with my white linen anorak and turquoise flat sandals. It's a memorable skirt, but I think it's pretty versatile. Picture #4 shows the more traditional mix from a month ago.

2/3

Blouse: Coldwater Creek no-iron
Sweater: Ballet wrap, Chico's from the 90's (and a little big, in 90's style)
Necklace: Loehmann's (2 years ago)
Skirt: East 5th for JCP (last year)
Kitten heels : Merona for Target (ancient)
