It was for the mother of some dear friends — a brother and sister I was kind of shocked to realize have been my friends for 40 years. She was an extraordinary lady and we will all miss her. It was an outfit mostly worn to funerals. The bottom was a pencil skirt worn with nylons and black footwear I wore it to my dad’s funeral and then got rid of it. He would have liked the skirt. Our friend who died -&nbsp;&nbsp;a dedicated thrifter - would have approved, since both items came from charity shops. &nbsp;</p> <p> <div>Lot’s of linen worn by both sexes. &nbsp;Though the majority of attendees were born before the ‘60’s, there was no strict adherence to black, or even dark colours. &nbsp;Respectful dress was worn by everyone, and most men wore jackets (linen!) and ties. &nbsp;No brights, but white and muted colours in evidence. &nbsp;Maybe 1/3 of the attendees were in black or navy.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is the third celebration of a life I’ve attended this year. &nbsp;My old standby funeral dress was passed along earlier this year since it no longer fit. &nbsp; Black (and navy) are the dominant colours in my wardrobe, so I’ve got a little mix and match capsule of dark things that I can use for these kinds of occasions. &nbsp;No need for a dedicated funeral outfit. &nbsp;</div></p>
