We both default to making classic purchases and replacements of essentials in tough times -- I think a thrift/ consignment shop visit for some additions to the dress up capsule makes sense, and also one pair of dressy winter shoes. I only have one truly dressy winter shoe myself and it is, admittedly, dark -- but I also have silver booties which I can wear with some outfits, so it seems to work out okay on balance.
