But because I also like patterned bottoms, I need a complement of solids, too.&nbsp;</p> <p>To give you a sense of the balance -- these are my most-worn summer tops. (Actually, they are my only summer tops, LOL.)&nbsp;</p> <p>I count 6 plains to 11 patterns. Some of those patterns are easy mixers, for me, so function as plains if I want (stripes, the Zara foil t).&nbsp;</p> <p>I need more patterned tops in summer because I rarely if ever wear patterned scarves in summer. In winter, I can get my pattern fix with a scarf.&nbsp; </p> <p>ETA -- a true minimalist would be happy with all solids. I am not that person. When I make an outfit of all plains, I'm always itching to add something. I think it is because pattern often provides the sense of movement I crave. It's not necessary to use pattern to fill that function. <b>Angie</b> gets it with bold colours and some colour blocking, and some years back I had some summer outfits like that, that I loved!! The jacket was needed for A/C and I feel that along with the sneakers creates juxtaposition with the dressiness of the skirt and ‘top’. For dinner out, I’m switching up footwear, and will wear the yellow sling backs. </p> <p>Thanks for looking!</p> <p> </div></p>
