Belated but very heart felt thank you for chiming in. Some of these look very promising, and I will report back if there are any good contenders once I have a chance to try them on! Thank you ever so much.

Hi Kari,

I got one in London from H&M, so they might be worth a look. It did take me three or four visits before I found one in my size as they kept selling out.

Kari, I'm very busty and extremely apple-shaped as well, and am doing okay with Banana Republic's shirt.

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=904788012

Would have much preferred no pockets, but I doubt there are any shirts like that out there.

Kari. I got mine from Express.
http://www.express.com/chambra.....crumb=true
Although it has pockets, they are not too intrusive.

I just got long-sleeved and sleeveless chambray shirts from Old Navy. I'm 38GG, and usually wear 18 or 20 in tops, and the Old Navy XXL fits at the shoulders, with bust coverage and a reasonable amount of ease. XL was too tight across my upper arms.

These are inexpensive, in the good and bad senses of the word. I might add a dart or two, or taper the sides a bit, to make them more fitted at the waist.

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=897700022

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=463426002

The sleeveless top is very lightweight material. There are no back pleats in either.

Have you seen any chambray or denim shirts this season that have a floaty lightweight fabric, but will fit someone who is on the larger side of straight sizes, and with a very generous bust?

I tried on several today at Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom without any luck. Great fabric but cut too narrowly in bust, shoulders, and upper arms for me. I'd like to find one I can wear primarily with skirts and without extra bulk (like big full pockets) at the bust. Most shirts I saw had a pleat in back and that looked horrible on me.

Suggestions welcome!

(Added an unrelated photo since I'm posting from the iPhone app.)
