I was in my 20’s when I had 3 impacted wisdoms removed. (Had an erupted wisdom drawn as a in-office procedure earlier.) Completely wiped out afterwards. Thanks to DH’s assiduous application of ice packs, I experienced very little swelling, and just two small bruises at the base of my mandible.

I had mine removed when I was 19 in 1989 - so technically an adult. They were impacted and growing sideways. I went under general anesthetic. I looked like a purple chipmunk for a while. VERY swollen face with big bruises on my jaw. Had to eat soft food for a while. All in all - not pleasant, but very manageable!

Best of luck, Indigoprint! I'm sure it will all go smoothly :)

Good insight Fabbers Thank you.
I've had wisdom teeth removed but that was 30 years ago!
Also went through my kiddos. I just am nervous due to my age. A bruise can take 4-6 weeks to go away! Healing slows down so much as we get older. I have a consult before the procedure and this group of Dr.s have provided for my family before, so I know I am in good hands.

It depends on the clinical situation. If the tooth is buried in bone you will probably have a lot of bruising and swelling. If the tooth is not, it's usually a fairly simple procedure. Talk to your dentist about what to expect and how they plan to treat the recovery symptoms. (Retired dentist speaking)

I had to have one removed as an adult. Recovery depends in part on how impacted they are, how many you have removed at once, and so on. It should be fine, though. Some discomfort and swelling and a liquid diet for a few days.

When I was about 20? I was extremely bruised. I timed it for university break but was still very bruised about 10 days later. Other students joked (yes jokes about domestic violence in the early 80s) about “Did your husband beat you up?” I didn’t have a husband or even a boyfriend at the time.
I would say just do what you have to do. You may be fine or not so great but just have to cope

I had one removed in the 80s. It was not very impacted and I went under a light general anaesthetic in the chair. It wasn't traumatic fortunately. All the best!
