<p>I'm trying to stay under the pace Suntiger set in her slow- shop challenge. That's the pace I've been buying at. It feels like a lot to me, so I do think I'm going to slow way down after these finds. Still, when I come across something in these shades online or in stores, I have a collector's "gotta have it" impulse, instead of just appreciating it. I need to figure out how to quell that, because even if I'm not buying, it still isn't a great feeling.

<p>Angie, honestly, it's a little worrying. For a couple years, around the time I started here, I made massive orders, and returned most of it. I slowed that down, got back to my normal habits in the months before the move (although I did order a bunch of white pants, searching for "the ones"). Since hatching this berry plan, I want to buy every berry thing I see, and once again have tons of orders/returns. I also am afraid I'll get all caught up in the perfect berry wardrobe and spend more money than I should, more than I would if I didn't have the berry idea. I'm trying to get a handle on it with this post, but don't know if I would've bought any new tops otherwise. </p>

<p><div>Thanks Jenni! My point there was kind of rambley--glad to hear at least one person caught what I was trying to say. <br /></div><div>Fitting it all in--no, I brought entirely too much clothing with us. 3 large suitcases packed absolutely as full as they could be without busting the zippers, and some spillover into my son's suitcase. <br /></div><div>I wish I could reliably predict in advance what things I will miss later on!</div><div>You are so right that there will always be another. I recently saw that Tamaris has Oxfords that start at about the price the M-H Derbys are on sale for now. They are multi-color, including a blush shade. Those could probably work too, or just blush winter shoes. <br /></div>

<p>Yes I agree. I found the 5 % figure high for me, but I would be in the top 20% of earners in my country I think. I thought your comments on that thread wise, that some friends you had with higher earnings were spending on travel and a second house rather than on clothing. We have been spending on building a house rather than on clothing of late.<br />
Yes, 75 for winter is nearer my 79 for autumn/winter/spring. Not that I was judging you, I was mainly surprised where you could fit it all!<br />
And I absolutely agree that visuals and proportions and all that stuff is usually what we all like to share!<br />
I am cheering on your berry capsule and hoping for the price drop on those shoes with pink you want. But I certainly have found bearing in mind the idea that there will always be another of what catches our eye is good, to not get too hung up on one particular thing. Sometimes I've done that and bought that thing, probably at greater cost than I've wanted, and then it hasn't worked out. So I have learned from that. We do of course get nostalgic sometimes for particular items we may have given away decades ago. I wish I still had my bright fish on black background 80s sweater dress!

<p>
<div>I'm back with real numbers. Just pulled out my extremely cracked cell phone and see that the actual number is 830€ or $940 (USD). So slightly less than I predicted, but still more than I would find sustainable over the long run. The "wish list" finds I posted come to around €700 at sale prices (counting only one kimono). That's still over 100/month--too much for my comfort, but they are just examples of what I might get occasionally, not a list of what I'd actually buy.</div><div><br /></div><div>RL, I don't plan to keep it up!<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Jenni NZ, take that wardrobe count with a grain of salt, and note that it includes items most wardrobe counters don't include in their number, like basics / winter baselayers, winter hats/mittens/scarves, shoes, and workout clothes. There are 75 items of "regular clothing". That number might drop in the next year or two, if I remove items that aren't working. I doubt I'll ever have a small wardrobe, because my shape shifts too much. Right now I can't wear the jeans &amp; brown leggings I brought with me, or the blue dress I got last fall, because they're too small. I don't want the hassle or expense of churning them out of my wardrobe and buying more when I'm back at that size. When they fit again, I won't be wearing these plaid pants, but I won't get rid of them either, so I have a lot of clothes.<br />And yes, I was referring to the calculation in which a % that many people says works for them, of an income that's over the top 20% of US earners, was found to be too small to build a real wardrobe. I know there are people here who bring in that much. They don't usually talk about it, focusing instead on visuals or, in that specific thread, percentages that could be applied at any level. Those are things that can bring us together. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></p>

<p>As I thought- your wardrobe is large if it is 200 items for winter. We do count differently as I have not counted longjohns, tights, socks, hats and bags so those sort of things may add up to perhaps another 40 or so- just guessing. I don't really have loungewear either, I just wear my more comfy normal clothes.<br />
My autumn/winter/spring numbers came to 79 clothing items and 24 prs shoes = 101. Summer is separate and I am overweight there( both literally and figuratively) as that's my fave season: 54 clothing items and 20 prs shoes= 74. Total 176 just now. Zero purchases in January. I think each to their own of course, I am just a bit surprised you can fit it all in! But your festive capsule, if that was the last pic on the thread you linked, is stunning!<br />
Another query- I don't understand what "some people sneer at amounts much smaller" means? Do you mean some would think you are not spending enough? It looks a lot to me, as I *think* one euro is about $2 NZ? Would have to Google it, but that would be $NZ 300 a month or $3600 a year, and I haven't spent that much for a number of years- just under $1800 in 2018 and just under $1200 in 2017 which was deliberately a light year with only 18 items. 29 items I think in 2018. So I would not be sneering finding it too small. I meant to get to my last 10 years or so on Gretchen's budget thread but never got there and the thread is weeks old. I don't think people sneer on YLF either, most people seem kind and just interested in the very different ways we manage all this. But I could be missing something. It obviously depends on high end something is. Some of mine like my Sabatini things are high end for NZ- appear in fashion magazines and on David Jones runways in Australia. Those are all bought on sale though. We are not talking Prada and Gucci- not that I would buy those anyway and especially not of late with their recent behaviour.

<p>Re stalking--these are some of the fish getting away. Doesn't look like their prices are coming near my net. Some are already sold out. Next winter or the one after, I can go from 3-4 things a month like this year to things like these (including leisure items bordering on lounge wear).</p>
<p>I've been spending around €150/month. Some people on YLF sneer at amounts much smaller, but as long as I don't churn through clothes with every burp or trend, I think I'll be fine. There are other things I'd rather spend on.</p>

<p>I'm especially hopeful about the cropped cardi. My basic pink one carries way too much right now, and the sleeves on the one on order look like they add a fun note to the silhouette while slimming down far enough away from hands that the poofiness won't be a problem.

<p>All very nice tones together. I echo Suntiger's Q about the shoes, as are the red Docs a bit bright and the gorgeous metallic floral booties not quite right for this capsule? But maybe they work...<br />
It sounded a lot at first but maybe 20 items in half a year is not so many. I admire your stalking tenacity- I only do it with shoes. It worked great for me with the bronze boots- original $241.95 down to $97.<br />
I am wondering if you have counted your wardrobe numbers at all? You said you got rid of the most stuff ever in your move.

<p>Suntiger, I wish I did! Right now I have black Redwings, blue steampunk ankle boots with 3" heels, and my red and metallic ankle boots. I had blush fake suede boots fall of 17, but they were low quality (a test model), so when I tried to clean them, the fuzz came off too. I considered pink Timberlands or other suede boots this winter, but then noticed how other women wearing them apparently couldn't keep them clean in the city, so they aren't for me. Something like the Campers would be nice, but I don't want that much heel height. These are the Melvin-Hamiltons I linked to. They have pink, so would fill that spot. Cross your fingers for that price drop!</p>

<p>Notes to myself, to look at as fall approaches. Can't remember who it was that posted her end of season observations, but want to say thanks for such a helpful idea. </p>
<p><div>This has been my first "real" fall and winter since 2009, and I've made quite a few purchases--jeans, red, black, and green solid + plaid pants, 1 white T-neck, 1 ls paisley blouse, 1 navy sweater dress, 1 tweedy cardigan, 1 skirt from White Stuff, 1 pullover sweater, 1 white top, 2 blazers, 1 scarf, 1 cape, blue pumps and red boots. I also got 2 pr of sandals in August. 20 purchases in 6 months. If I've missed any, please remind me.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>The 3 cardis &amp; 2 blouses from Zalando in finds here are on the way to me. I expect to be keeping one long cardi and sending the other back. <div><br />
</div><div>Beyond that, I think I'm done for this season. (Looking at the slow-shop challenge, these take me past March anyway). But if the COS ls top goes on sale, I'll pick it up too. Ditto these shoes, if they go down to -60% <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.melvin-hamilton.de/selina-2-mogano-dark-pink.html">https://www.melvin-hamilton.de.....-pink.html</a> and this sweater, if it hits 50% <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.massimodutti.com/de/damen/reduzierung/pullover-und-cardigans/wollpullover-mit-zopfmuster-am-vorderteil-c1745870p8445064.html?colorId=611&amp;categoryId=1745870">https://www.massimodutti.com/d.....zopfmuster</a>. Oh, who am I kidding? The Hobbs dresses, the paisley pants--there are all kinds of things in my finds I'll get if the prices drop enough.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div></div><div>For next winter, I want to get good watch plaid pants in a winter weight (assuming I'm too small for these), one or two other pairs of pants (Glen plaid or houndstooth and/or winter white or very pale pink) for this collection, and a pair of winter shoes (unless I've gotten the M-Hs in the link). I'll also need to look at the blazer situation. I think I'll be investigating Berlin clothes makers, cobblers, &amp; second hand stores by then, so am hoping for interesting versions of all of these. I pick up business cards when I see cool things at market stands selling locally made products, and will use the Berlin Fashion Week site to find boutiques. I'd love to get a short wool coat in a slightly flirty cut and a bright berry color, like the Halogen or Kate Spade, but won't need it as much because I'll have my bright blue parka. I've seen and am tempted by velvet puffers too...<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>What I *don't* need more of, though I'll be tempted, are long johns (thermals), undershirts, or warm underlayer bodysuits. I have more than enough of all those things. The only reasons I should get tights are interesting pattern or texture. I have enough pjs (loungewear) too. Socks are marginal. Patterns in dark or berry shades would be ok, but aren't crucial.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>Things to pick up from storage when we're back in the states for this collection: black plaid skirt, mulberry cord skirt, tall brown boots. I also want to pick up 3 pr of business pants, to wear in the fall, &amp; my black combat boots &amp; black Clark’s from storage.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>The only item I got in my beloved bright indigo/periwinkle blue this year is my cape. I may add a couple pieces in that color this fall, as well as a turquoise top to go with my cord skirt.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>Note: possibility for the boy--sweater on the outside, fleece on the inside. <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-lightweight-better-sweater-marsupial-fleece-pullover/26000.html?dwvar_26000_color=CELA&amp;cgid=root&amp;isSearch=true#tile-1=&amp;q=mens%2Bmarsupial&amp;lang=en_US&amp;start=1&amp;sz=24">https://www.patagonia.com/prod.....r/26000.ht</a><br />
</div></p>
<p>Additionally, I need new tights—burgundy/berry and possibly brown to go with sweater dress and brown skirt.<br />
Also, a blazer might be a better idea than (or in addition to?) the long, somewhat fitted cardi.<br />
For shoes, I must remember to keep them flat, no heels!
