Your winter workhorses are very chic!

I, too, have been putting away my most wintry items today and have pulled out lighter items. Yeah! Spring and fall are my favourite seasons fashionwise.

My winter workhorses have included velvet/velour dresses, midi skirts in leather, velvet, and wool, opaque tights, riding boots, long puffer coat, coatigans, and turtleneck sweaters.

This winter has been unusually mild where I live, so several of my winter items have got very little wear. Among these are my wool sweaters, fleece-lined leggings, knee-high fur-lined boots, wool hats and warm gloves.

Sal: I love your pieces to and could totally imagine them in my wardrobe! I'll be back in the northeast US next year, so a heavier coat will be useful.

Love your workhorses - especially the boots! You have a good sense of what works so I think your wool coat is a great idea ( will you still be in the UK?)

For me the following pieces have been well worn. The camisole was a mid January addition but has been worn 1-2 a week since. I am loving this structured bag. And the sandals are perfect for my rather casual life.

The light has definitely changed here, but it's still cold... I'm not ready to put away my chunky knits QUITE yet, (and my refurbished jacket is coming from the repair shop any day now! SQUEE!)

Your workhorses are absolutely perfect! I could see you in a wool version of the trench, for sure. Have you found a similar hat for summer, yet?

My biggest workhorses have been a pair of fleece-lined black joggers from uniqlo. They go with everything, are incredibly warm, are cozy without looking sloppy. They've been worn and washed a lot, and still look brand new. Perfect for my WFH life.

Honorable mention goes to my faux fur lined waterproof Vans. I really should get another pair next winter... I've practically lived in these since October.

Great workhorses! You truly are a minimalist. It would make sense to get a wool trench I think.
I have some pairs of new shoes that were true workhorses. And my new coat has been worn out many times already too. For all else I think I've made an effort to alternate a lot. But it's telling of how warm this winter's been that my hardest working topper was my new cotton cardigan. Like you, I'm not reaching for my woollies.

I love all of these pieces, so classic and chic. I am particularly taken with your camel hat. I tend to wear beanies in winter for warmth, but they always feel too casual for my style.

My summer workhorses (being in the Southern Hemisphere) have been:
- pink linen shirt
- linen maxi skirt
- red blouse
- pant suit

Classy pieces! Have you been wearing them all together? Aside from the puffy, puffy boots, fur lined boots, and hot pink beanie (which I wear all year actually, lol), a navy and black Target sweater... it’s very warm!

Wow. Those are beautiful pieces. And I can see why they would be workhorses. I am a HUGE lover of Chelsea boots and feel that if you have one dressy/ refined pair and one casual pair, you are pretty well set for most winter situations. The trench is also gorgeous.

You are brave declaring the end of winter so soon ! But I know what you mean, the daffodils are out here, there are signs of spring on the way.
My winter workhorses have been ,as usual ,my tan timberland Nellie boots,a grey cashmere cardigan from fat face and a red cashmere scarf from pure.ln fact I wonder why I have so many other clothes when these ,plus a pair of jeans and a coat ,seem to be what I live in in the winter.

Despite the wind storms we've been having, is starting to feel like the end of winter in the UK. I'll be putting away most of my chunky knits this weekend, since I'm just not reaching for them.

As the season ends, I'm dropping in to make a note of a few workhorses, mostly for future reference.

1) Camel hat: I'll continue to wear this in the spring, but it's been essential on rainy days and always gets complements. A wide brim hat should always be part of my wardrobe.

2) Black Chelsea boots: I alternated these two pairs basically everyday for three solid months without tiring of either of them. Total heroes.

3) Theory trench: I picked this up at the end of the summer and am so glad I did. It is the kind of piece that always makes me feel chic. It was even practical on mild days in the winter layering a thin puffer underneath. And it's the first thing I'm reaching for now that it's warmer. *Note to self: Consider duplicating the shape/length in wool for next winter.

What have your winter work horses been?
