Good point Jenn. It has required slowing down the purchases a great deal. But I was starting at a high base of almost a 200-item wardrobe. If 109 items for 3 out of 4 seasons, that means a lot more for the 4th season of ( high) summer. I do get to wear the high summer clothes also for the odd tropical holiday which we like to take once or twice a year ( very lucky I know) because we like heat and like to get out of NZ. The trouble is that if we stay in NZ husband especially gets a bit hounded by his business, they seem to be unable to manage well without him but when he is not around they just have to. My staff seem to manage a bit better without me. I have been culling somewhat and have not re-counted the high summer stuff yet because the part-seasonal swap doesn't include them yet, more spring/ cool summer stuff that I can suddenly put on on a hot spring day. Weather is wildly fluctuant right now in early spring. I think my overall wardrobe lasts more like 5 than 3 years, if good quality.

18 over 30 wears doesn't seem terrible to me! At the end of any season, I feel like I'd like to see somewhere over a third of my wardrobe over 30, a third over 20, and the rest over 10. That's what would make me feel like, over a three-year-minimum life cycle, I'm going to be wearing everything enough. Hopefully, of course, MANY items will last longer than that.

The data will set you free! So interesting to actually track what you use most. I have not gotten to this point, but I enjoy learning from others. Those black wedge boots are amazing. And I love the two blue booties. You should wear the heck out of them!

I wonder if you could duplicate the collar on the red plaid - it is a unique styles touch that might be easily replicated. Either with a sewing machine with a buttonhole feature, or even a little fabric/elastic loop on the collar point?

Thank you Jenn and La P. I wore the cobalt boots again to work yesterday and they notched up about another 10 compliments. I have many items in the high-20s-wears as well, but my whole Autumn/winter/spring wardrobe is 109 items so only 18 counted here over 30 wears. Just counted, there are a further 24 items worn between 20 and 30 times. So 42 out of 109. Under half. I suspect with the rest some of the issue is too-slow culling and some the high-heeled shoe problem. Trying to pluck up courage to cull more esp shoes x

I'm really impressed by your dedication to tracking. I keep trying and always have a falling out with my spreadsheet after a couple of weeks. Must be so satisfying to see your items clearing the 30-wear hurdle!

Those cobalt boots are amazing and eye-catching; no wonder you get so many compliments on them. Love the blush sneakers, too. You have a truly great shoe collection -- even without the painful heels. :)

Isn't it fun to see those items cross the 30-wear threshold and beyond? I'm really impressed with how well you're doing, because I think it's much harder to get more wears out of clothing with a colorful, eclectic style like yours. Your style lends itself to a large wardrobe, which, of course, means everything will be worn fewer times. It's awesome that you can keep your statements for years, or even decades!

I understand owning shoes that are gorgeous to look at.

I had a few of those in my closet as well. The ones I am thinking of at this moment were so painful that I could not walk from the bedroom to the front door without paralyzing pain (they were the right size, but they were awfully high and threw my entire body out a alignment).

I kept them for a long time .... just because they were so beautiful to look at. I eventually donated them to someone that could actually wear them.

Thanks all. The Cat, I have to agree with you about the back view in pic 2. I am wearing the same top, jacket and shoes today with the ponte/leatherette pants which are black, I think it looks better with the pants being black. I don't like tucking much, it also feels like it draws attention to my sticky-out tummy and bottom...sigh. I think I will wear those jeans more for comfort. Since then I bought a black cropped pair which seems to flatter more.

When I look at the outfit in #2, I can't help thinking that you would look better in a longer jacket or at least in a styling which did not include three different colours meeting at (and thereby calling attention to) your widest point ... How about wearing the jacket with a bottom in the same colour and a tucked-in top?

The red shoes look gorgeous. Would you be able to use them for "sit down-occasions"?

Jenni, shoes have been a big mistake of mine for years. High-heeled, dressy shoes precisely. But I can understand you have not the heart to eliminate those red shoes. They are beautiful!

My mistakes are pretty easy to spot. They are a parade of beautiful high-heeled shoes. They start in 2010 and there are 6 pairs through until 2014... the most wears is only 6. Here is an example, only worn I think 4 times. I cannot bear to give them away. I know Angie would say I should.

I am doing a seasonal part-swap so it felt appropriate to review. My best items for wear are my "essentials" I think. And a couple of old statements. Pics:
1/2. Most worn item, Scope black jacket 2016, 70 wears. Like the cropped shape. Sits at my waist. Soft, unlined. Goes with everything.
3. Charcoal knit pants are good for casual and also occasionally worn to work if not much of them showing. 2015, 41 wears. Also fave winter coat, cropped swing black and white 2011 31 wears( guessed wears before tracking started).
4/5. Oldest item in frequent wear over the years, tartan shirt bought 1985. Older than my marriage! The collar is a fave, nowadays only worn with the red merino cowl neck jumper, poking out the top. Many wears!
6. Second oldest, 1986 Mondi jersey. Love it still.
7. Most worn boots, Minx 2011 tall "button-up" boots with side functional zip. 51 wears. That's my legs in them today with fave 2014 Max ponte/leatherette pants, 69 wears( most worn pants).
8. Most worn booties, Steve Madden 2013 bought on San Francisco trip at DSW in Union Square. Always get comments. 48 wears.
9. Most complimented item. Including by men, go figure. 2015 Beau Coops cobalt boots, 36 wears. They're a statement.
10/11/12 my 3 pairs sneakers. 2009 Skechers guessing over 40 wears. Well travelled! 2016 blush pink 31 wears, wear these to work as smart enough. 2015 Animal print 30 wears.
13. Sabatini wide stripes jumper 2015 33 wears.
14. 2012 "Kiwi vest" Witchery faux fur 41 wears guessed.
No pics: 2014 black layering Ts, both at 30 wears, for under tunics. Pink flowers tunic 2011 30 wears and rust orange cardigan 2012 30 wears.
My most worn jeans are Macjay's 2016 shown in pics 1-2 at 29 wears. I don't think they are that flattering. My bum looks big! But they are dark blue and straight and comfortable.
Otherwise, all my other winter items are not worn 30 times. Boring dark green rain jacket from 2004 has not been counted. It is not part of outfits. It's gear. I prefer not to walk in the rain if I can help it
