OK Theresa you are scaring me now hehehe. 30 degrees again here today though, so I can put off my worrying for a while! (until tomorrow at least)

I think it makes sense to be prepared. Do you know what ezibuy's shipping/return policy is? Could be worth a shot anyway, but yes the length of it did make me pause when I first saw it too.

LOL Tam one of my closest friends moved from Central Qld to Melbourne about 7 years ago and she still hasn't adjusted to Winters apparently... I can't even comprehend the weather you will endure!

But I agree about the jacket possibly being too long/boxy - I'm 163cm (I think that's around 5'4"), and a short waisted, pear - so if it is too long, it will be tight aroung my biggest part and it looks quite long doesn't it...

I really like it but wish it were in a real store so I could try it on!

Probably shouldn't be taunting myself with jackets yet though - I need to actually pay ofr my new specs first LOL

I lived by the beach last year and found that I didn't need any of my warmest coats at all. Am expecting to get ALOT of wear out them this year in melbourne though, I am getting scared about how cold winter is going to be already! But having said that it was back up to 30 degrees today. Crazy!

I like the look of that ezibay jacket. I think youd have to make sure it doesn't end up too long/boxy on you though. How tall are you Theresa?

LOL I've lived in Qld my whole life, but always more inland too, (and in higher altitude areas), so this coastal living thing is a bit crazy for me!

It seems on my coast, summers are cooler and winters are warmer than the places I'm used to - which is really quite nice for a change. Actually, I holidayed here last winter and remember only needing a jacket when walking on the beach in the late afternoon - the rest of the time I was fine it jeans and a tshirt - I thought that was just because it might have been a milder few days I was here... but apparently that could well be every single day.

I was wondering if a pleather jacket might be all I need as a bit of a wind breaker... I had one years ago and can't remember if it was good for that or not.

I've been wondering about this one actually:

http://www.ezibuy.com.au/Women.....54767.shtm

Seeing all the lovely woollen coats and clothing in catalogues often makes me wonder if I'd like to live somewhere cooler though! (I have never owned anything woollen in my life!)

Welcome to sunny Queensland Theresa! I live inland not the coast but it will probably be a touch cooler and more windy so I would think the only other winter jacket you might need might be a leather/pleater moto jacket. I got rid of all my woolen jackets when I moved from down south it's just too warm here to need them.

This will be my first Winter in my new town, and after chatting to a lady who has lived here a while this morning, I'm starting to think about my winter jackets.

Our average temps over winter are 10-22 degrees C (50-70 F I think) and only about 10 days of the 3 months are rainy days. Now this is a fair bit milder than my old town where we would get the odd day at 0C (but still never below and only an occasional light frost LOL).

But, on the actual coastline (I live at the beach) its quite windy. Now I live 1 block back from the coastline, so I'm expecting it to be fairly windy even if it is fairly warm.

I do feel the cold, but the wind that cuts right through me is probably the only thing I can't handle.

So, what types of jackets are fairly lightweight but wind proof?

My winter jackets are currently a Denim-style fine cord jacket, a few cardi's, and one lined cotton trench-like jcaket (usually only wear this one if I go out at night time, and over a l/s top).

I have no idea because we really don't get a lot of cold weather and I've never lived at the coast before to know about the windy conditions.

And by the sounds of it, my winter (beautiful crystal clear sunny days!), is going to be such that a l/s top alone is probably going to be enough... or a s/s top and cardi.

After this little chat I suspect I will spend witner living in jeans/tops, or dresses/leggings with a light cardi and a jacket for the wind...

Thanks for any suggestions.
