@Joy I find mustard to be a difficult colour too - I agree the drastically different effects of its variations make it difficult for it to be a true neutral. Some of the lighter versions look naked on me, & the duskier versions drain me. By the time it's warm & deep enough for my colouring, it's now saffron

@Nadya Oh that puffer vest sounds amazing - please model it for us when you receive it! Despite its (almost) universal appeal, I find teal is surprisingly difficult to source in clothing - most of mine is in accessories (& one coat) as a result. I agree there's a dearth of interesting colours in plus sizes, I'm sorry It's as if the higher you go, the more they expect you to dress either in all black or giant cabbage roses. Doy!

I do not think of mustard as a neutral. I like to wear it but it is not the best color on me. It is not the worst either but I think my best yellow may be a light mustard with more yellow in it than usual. A butter color may be better but mustard does seem to function as a neutral sometimes because it goes with so many other colors. Adding a bit of some shade of white can bring a dark outfit into spring and summer.

My summer pick me up (or more correctly - cool me down in the HOT weather) was a few light cotton items. The ruffle shorts are worn just around the house at home, are so light and cool to wear.

It’s so fun to see everyone’s mid season coping mechanisms.
Runcarla I always crave navy around April or May, so I’m loving your picks.
Angie those are amazing color boosts! That jacket made go down a rabbit hole looking for it . I want to try bolder color mixing, the way you do. I tried on a lemon yellow sweater and turquoise jeans today. Neither items we’re keepers, but I like the colors. Finding colors in good quality items in plus sizes takes patience.

Zaeobi I love teal too and just ordered a teal puffer vest solely for that reason. I have to be careful to make sure I’ll wear it but I’ll judge that when it arrives.

Joy you’re so smart about light neutrals. I need to think about what mine should be. Even adding white or cream is a challenge as I detest most see through clothing. I did make an exception for this cashmere polo I got at an end of season sale. Is mustard a neutral???

Yes, I need more color and prints and crave seasonal colors. I have added more color to what was an almost strictly neutrals winter and have created a “cold spring” and “ hot fall” capsules with spring colored warm sweaters and earth toned summer weight items. This has helped a lot. I like my summer wardrobe and have been trying to carry its colors and patterns into other seasons. Last summer I decided I liked a bit of boho and decided to try to make a winter equivalent. It happened with Icelandic wools although cotton versions are available. Wearing white on dark grey days helps.
I like your Finds. You look like you are on the right track. The colors will work well with neutrals. You can go for more light neutrals.

Ooh, that pattern is gorgeous - & trendy!

Love all the warm yellows & browns in your scheme - a woman after my own heart

We don't really have spring here (in HK) so much as 'cold & dry' outside of March - Oct. My solution has been a teal coat as a way to add colour (since my bottoms, shoes & bag are usually more neutral anyway).

Fun and fantastic new pants. We have a relatively short and mild winter and around now I am already counting the minutes until a warm spring. My seasonal change up usually involves rotating my boots to the back. The loafers and oxfords are up next.

Nice items and palette! KILLER fab new jeans - and what an effective pick-me-up. Go Team Wear, and enjoy!

I posted what is inspiring me yesterday :

https://youlookfab.com/2022/02.....of-spring/

As for WINTER pick-me-ups, I got these at the end of last year on great discount - the pleather jacket more recently - and they do a great job of packing punch in very grey Seattle!

I think every year about this time I come out of lurk mode to post about a winter pick me up. I live in the PNW where winters aren’t harsh but they are chilly and dark with a long cool spring. I tend to be drawn to certain colors by season anyway, and every February I crave some pinks or other colors. (Past posts on this here and here.)

I came across these crazy jeans and they check all my boxes. Warm enough for our mild winter. Full of colors I already have and love. Crazy pants, which I love anyway. They just arrived and I wore them yesterday and just want to wear them all weekend, which I may do! As you can see I have plenty of options in my closet. BTW, if these interest you, I find Eloquii jeans run large and I take a size smaller than my typical size. Definitely check their size guide.

Do you have mid winter (or summer!) pick me ups or cravings?
