I was going to post this on the other thread on JCrew wishlist, but I thought it would get lost. Shiny asked about the JCrew lady day coat. I've never bought that particular coat, but I have also been eyeing for several years now and may just buy one this year.

I think the higher end JCrew merchandise (coats, bags, shoes) are really top-notch quality. I have never had a problem with them like I have with their t-shirts, lower priced sweaters, and pants.

Both my husband and I have coats from JCrew that we bought several years ago. They are our primary winter coats, and they have held up all of these years. They still are in great shape--no worse for wear. My husband's black pea coat has thinsulate. He really seems to like it; it keeps him warm, and he is easily chilled. If I were to get another winter coat, I would get the thinsulate. My coat doesn't have it, and I could use a little extra warmth on the coldest winter days. We are, of course, not in Boston, but in the midwest. Our winters are decidedly less cold, but my Greg wears his coat on our coldest of days (down into the single digits) and stays comfortable with layers underneath.

If you are considering a coat from them, I would recommend it. I would like to hear others' thoughts.
