I'm the opposite of you - I run very cold and in the coldest months I just can't get warm enough in a short jacket no matter how many layers I have under it. Our winters are wildly variable in temp/snowfall, always have been, so have to be prepared!&nbsp; You mention that you saw a deep teal faux fur that was too big and <u>heavy</u>&nbsp;- wise of you to reject it. Years ago I bought a dark brown (real) long sherpa coat in the days when I was doing a city commute with 20-30 minute chunks of time on train platforms and city streets in Boston winters. It was gorgeous, warm, and so heavy my shoulders hurt after wearing it for one day! We have similar weather here in Michigan with long coat seasons. My favorite black packable down coat bit the dust last year and I had to make myself get rid of it. It was getting so shabby but I still loved it. I replaced it with a Lands End one similar to yours. It really is the statement piece for an outfit in cold weather. I got the most use out of a solid black puffer, a yellow knee length wool coat, a cherry red mid weight puffer jacket, and a brown plaid tweed bomber. I need coats 9 months of the year, including a 5-month winter with 2-3 months of serious cold and snow.  <ul> <li>Lands End black packable puffer jacket.  I have a diff brand in a copper color but black is more versatile in my wardrobe. </li> <li>Coldwater Creek black all-season long jacket (replacement for a thin waterproof jacket with a failed zipper)</li> <li>Sam Edelman dark brown/black herringbone overcoat (sorta replacement for an HM one I never really loved,  but mostly just liked it and got for a song at Marshalls)</li> <li>DKNY black faux sherpa "dressy" coat (1/2 price)</li> <li>LLBean navy sporty winter coat for morning walks (replacement, also 1/2 price) </li> </ul> I'm already wearing 1,2, and 5.</p> <p>...and now I'm seeing some absolutely gorgeous faux fur print ones online at Anthro that I absolutely do NOT need Sitting on my hands while I do the "mental justification dance"  </p> <ul> <li>short blue/brown/black/white print</li> <li>black/white herringbone</li> <li>sort of a camo print</li> </ul>
