Everything else is prohibitively expensive. (I've actually repaired/replaced the lining on a beloved coat, and that was $70+ in a smaller city.) I think doing work on the major seams of a coat would necessitate taking the coat completely apart. I'd wager you're talking well over $100 to let out a coat all over. It's my understanding that the one thing on a jacket, coat, dress, or shirt that really cannot be tailored is the shoulders -- maybe "cannot" is not the right word, but it's generally thought to be too much of a production to make it worthwhile. Are the shoulders where the fit is snug?</p> <p>In any case, be prepared to pay handsomely to tailor a coat. My two alterations to a lined coat, simple as they were, cost $60, and my tailor is quite reasonable. It had my name all over it!! I just had to have it! I tried it on and it fit very snugly. I purchased the coat anyways hoping that I can have it altered. Is there anyplace that does alterations on winter coats? Please say yes! </p>
