Agreeing with Angie and others here. You need the trench, that should not stay behind under any circumstances LOL! Europe weather in general requires some sort of outerwear for 3/4 of the year, especially for walking cities like Paris and London. Don't go by the " high" temperature, go by how "low" it can get. You will be exposed to the elements for a good portion of the day. It takes a toll and is definitely not the same thing as getting in and out of your car to go places and ditto on Vix's footwear and silk comment.

Hi Vicki --

Sounds like you have a fantastic trip planned (along with no shortage of outfits to match); hope it's a great one!

Since I'm coming into this late it seems a lot has been said and sorted out. [My main reservations were white pants in the city if you were going to be doing a lot of walking and needing them to be re-used.]

Hearing the weather report I'd echo throwing in a hat/pair gloves along with the planned scarves and advise making sure you have enough wet-weather footwear to work with your outfits -- though you may be happy with the boots for more than what you've shown.

Are some of the tops you show silk? It's such a great fabric for warmth (or coolness) and if you don't have any long-john style silk knit tanks/tops from someplace outdoors-oriented like REI maybe you would work them in as underlayers.

Enjoy the travel/time with friends!

Vicki, I am ... I don't even ... *plonk*

I saw this yesterday but had to run and couldn't reply with any semblance of the worth such a delightful photo album deserves. This morning I was giddy to see it all again. It's like you gave all of us a gift, playing dress-up with a beautiful girl and her closet of wonders.

Anyhoo, let's just say I am floored by your style. Again.

I think you've gotten a lot of good advice. I know cruises can be a bear to pack for, you want to bring everything because you will be doing everything, from the most uber-dressy to the most sporty of activities.

Like Suz, I am a listmaker, I bring along a spreadsheet printout, and I adore knowing what I'm going to wear for each day/activity. Let's call me "compulsive lite." I do it because it's fun for me. You may be more like Angie and want to shop your suitcase (SYS). This also sounds like a fun strategy, but not as light on the baggage. So it is truly up to you, and you will have a ball either way!

I hope you have a wonderful trip, because you are a lovely person and you deserve it.
Vicki, I'm late here, but I had to chime in and say that I'm almost overwhelmed by your fabulosity! You are a perfect model with the most amazing assortment of clothes, like a real life Barbie doll! You seem to be narrowing down and making sense of everything with the help of the others. I think it's really wise to wear your boots on the plane. Those transatlantic flights (especially the overnight ones) can get so chilly, and you can always remove them if you're too warm. I hope you have a wonderful time!

My pleasure, Vicki :)

Zap makes an excellent point about the white bootcuts. They are not for London, but perfect for an indoor cruise.

And exactly what Inge and Parsley said. I would bring a trench coat and a leather jacket for warmth - and I would layer one under the other walking around outside in the morning and night in London. (I have London weather permanently displayed on my iPhone because I have family there - and it looks quite foul next week :(. Wrap up!).

(Okay. I am always cold so I have to play Mummy and tell you to wrap up).

Have a BEAUTIFUL TRIP!!!
Vicki, this sounds like an amazing trip! I can't speak as to what to wear to these places, as I have never been (unless, of course I am allowed to stow away in your suitcase ;) )

I do like wearing a scarf on the plane ride - I usually do this, as it always seems to be chilly on the plane.

Have fun!

You've gotten SO much good advice here that I'm sure I can't add anything useful, except to say that your outfits are AMAZING - you are going to knock the socks of all those Londoners, Spaniards, French and fellow cruise-mates.
Vicki!! I am speechless, everything looks perfect. What a chic and happy travel wardrobe!!

Lots of super advice from the other ladies. I too love #6 for your museum visit (please let us know what you think of it?). I've no experience with cruises, so no tips there, but I'm 100% sure you'll dazzle the other passengers with these stunning ensembles!

I vote white leather jacket, even though our weather has been very chilly to cold with lots of rain, it's nice to be able to wear lighter colours in heavier materials. That at least can help us feel a little more Spring-y.

One quick question for the London days: can you layer your white leather jacket and other jackets/blazer under you trench? If yes: perfect! Next week will still be chilly with chance of rain, and I know I wouldn't be warm enough with the trench alone. Especially when being outside for longer times + it cools off considerably at night too.

You're going to Guernsey!! I've always wanted to visit, still on my list:-) Love the idea of a bicycle tour there. Another quick question: would you need a jacket for that? (not sure what the weather is like on Guernsey right now, but sea breezes could make it feel a little cooler?) I like the idea of your denim for jacket for cycling (perhaps there's room for it if you leave your black leather jacket at home?).

I think you're good on footwear, and smart plan to bring along the scarves:-)

Have an amazing trip, Vicki!!
you look totally amazing!I am at about week 7 of travel with handluggage and still feeling okish so can't quite relate to so many options mainly because I have to carry my own bag on public transport. I am doing 3day side trip with a handbag... Enough about me except to report on what people are wearing. Not sure when you are going but it is unseasonally cold... I am in south of portugal in thermal tank, 2 jackets and light scarves... and hear London is still freezing too... so everyone just has jackets, long pants and short boots or walking shoes with scarf. There are lots of germans and danish in my hotel so their colour coordination of sporty travel wear is leaving me feeling a little frumpy but... they are wearing lots of whites and brights but maybe they too had wishful t hinking as the londoners I met had packed shorts... soooo your whites and citrons I think look lovely and would work well with some black and white basics others mentioned. Remember too that parts of Europe are in tight economic circumstances so there are lots of people on the streets and working people are wearing very classic clothese almost a little dated esp in Spain where I have been for a month... I have found it sobering... enjoy!!

You've had wonderful, detailed, expert advice, Vicki! And it's true -- you are one chic and sleek lady! I've only one thing to add: Do you run cold or warm? I tend to run warm, and when I looked over your outfits, I thought that I'd have to pack more warm weather options. For instance, I'd be hot in #4 at 65 degrees, unless it were cloudy and windy. You may well have already taken this into account, of course, just thought I'd throw it out there.

I'd swap bags with you any day!
Ack! I wrote out a big long reply and lost it!

I'll try again:
What a fabulous travel capsule, Vicki!
You have so many beautiful outfits, and great pieces to mix and match.
Personally, I'd leave at least half of it at home, but I understand that not everybody shares my philosophy of packing light.

1-2 will be just right for the plane, and a great touring outfit during the trip.
Your museum outfit is great fun and perfect for the occasion.

The navy jacket is a key item that will go with everything, from jeans to your lace dress.

Love the lace dress! It's great with or without any one of your jackets.

I really love the white pleather jacket for spring: throw it on over jeans and any top and you're ready to go sight-see in style. But if you think the black one is more comfortable or practical, then it would work instead.

I adore the white bootcuts, but only for evenings onboard the cruise ship. If you go out walking in those the hems will be filthy in no time.

The gold jeans are fabulous! They'll be great for evening- edgy and sophisticated, and would work for daytime, too. If you have to choose between them and the plaid ones, I would choose the gold hands down.

Which shoes are your go-to walking shoes? And what outfit will you wear for the cycling tour?

Whatever you choose, I know you will take London by storm and be the most stylish lady on the cruise!

Wishing you a très bon voyage, and can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

ETA: I see that you answered some of my questions while I was posting this!
Sorry my questions were redundant! :-)

May I just say here, right now, that I feel like SHOUTING WITH HAPPINESS.

You are the most amazing women in the the WORLD!!!

Sona and bj, Caro and Raisin, thank you for your insights in packing for activities. Your thoughts really do give me good reasons to cull my current pile.

Mia, your cruising experience is so helpful and I'm glad you see what was perplexing me.

Denise, you have the most amazing fashion insights. After seeing the white skinnies vs. the flared white jeans, I agree that the wide flares look better with this look and do repeat the cut of the vest. You really know your stuff and it means a lot to me.

Jurocha, after reading your comments, I'm beginning to agree with you on the white pleather instead of the black leather. I do own a new white leather jacket, but for some reason the flow of the pleather actually looks better with my dresses.

Suz and Shannon, your attention to detail in the way you dress, and what you've said here, means so much to me. I value your opinions and am taking notes. Shannon, yes, I was trying to decide between the tartans and the white jeans, but I like to be flexible, too, and it all depends on the weather and maybe giving London, and myself, a little sunshine by what I'm wearing. I think the white pleather is taking the lead and will be joining me. I'm going to bring my denim jacket, too, because I like a casual look most of the time.

Angie, I am so THRILLED that you were around this weekend to check this post. In fact, I'M ELATED!!! I will be wearing #6 for you at the V&A Museum and will find room for my white booties! :) Regarding toppers, I'm leaving on Monday evening, 20 May and arriving in London at noon on Tuesday, 21 May. That's why, in looking at the weather report, I wanted to wear my waterproof Aquatalia booties, which are lightweight and ready for any weather conditions.

Susie and Shevia, thank you for your kind words and Shevia you made me laugh on your catalog comment. Very funny!

Zap, I only plan to wear these flared pants when I'm on the cruise ship. You give really sound and practical advice and I'd really not like to have soggy hems and drag around London that way. Yuck! That would be horrible.

I love these jeans and for some reason they seem to look better IRL than here in my photos. But, they'll stay on the ship and eventually back in Southern California, where it's always sunny!

For my bike ride, I plan to wear a citron Madewell sweatshirt with my black Hurley "fake Leith" track pants and black sneakers. Good news is that I have the "real" Leith woven track pants coming (THANK YOU, Claudia!) since they were restocked at Nordstrom. I just won't get them in time for my trip. I'm also taking my GAP navy blue sweater in case it's cold on the ship or in London and the sweater/jumper actually looks really good with the gold pants.

I think I'll take out my black leather pants (10) and leave them at home and happily put back in the light grey denim jeans (24). I was just concerned about taking them as they were perhaps too California casual.

I'm sending a huge world hug to all of you! XOXOXO

Hm, if you are looking to be more selective, I think the white boots and white bootcuts can probably go. You have a LOT of fab outfits to create here. I am leaning toward the white leather jacket since it is spring, but whichever one is most comfortable gets my vote. Of the skirts, I like black and blue. I really like both pants you asked about, too, but if you must choose I vote gold! Modern and edgy, able to dress down with your chambray top for day and up with your dark top for night. :)

This sounds like an amazing trip, btw!

Zap raises a good point about the bootcuts and the footwear for cycling. Do you have some sneakers or something similar?

How many of the shoes are you thinking of packing/ which ones? I always take a lot of shoes, too, if I can. But there are only so many a suitcase can manage!

the only thing I am voting against is the white bootcut jeans and trousers, especially for London. You will have soggy hems in 2 seconds flat. Also, you might not be able to re wear. Also, what shoes are you wearing for cycling?

The rest looks fantastic

May I order the full color catalog of your looks please? I just can't take in all this fab in one go. I will say I prefer easy to slip on and slip off shoes for flying. On the other hand it makes sense to wear your bulkiest pair. Apart from that I just can't even begin to pick a favorite but I will be studying them for inspiration!

WHAT SUZ SAID!!! YOU ARE KILLER SENSATIONAL!!!

I love to have options when I travel, and never pack a carry-on. I love to be able to "shop my suitcase", and feel that I'm appropriately dressed for a stylish city. I also always pack lots of shoes because of excess walking and maintaining happy feet! So vitally important.

I vote #6 museum outfit with the white booties!

Okay. When are you going, Vicki? Then we can finalize your toppers. It can be cold in London/Paris, so you must be prepared for foul weather - especially since you'll be walking the streets most of the time. Spain is usually much sunnier and warmer.

It's hard to pick my faves amongst these stellar outfits, but if I'm going with #1, #6, #9, #12, #14, #24 and #32 as my best of the bunch!
First of all Vicki - you are GORGEOUS in every single one of these outfits. I can only hope to be as stylish as you one day :)

Now, for detailed commentary:

1/2 - perfect for travel day. I have a preference for the second scarf as it seems more "springy" to me.

3-7 - for the museum. Is this a choice between the outfit with the white jeans or the outfit with the tartan pants? or are you taking both regardless? If you are only taking one, I vote for the white jeans with the blue shirt and jacket in #4. The white jeans will be versatile with other toppers and you can always swap out the blazer for the white moto for a light alternate outfit. I vote for the white moto because I think it reads more springy than the dark one. I'm also learning the white can be just as versatile as black.

8-17 - evening wear. This is tough because you look fab in everything. Pic 12, 14 and 15 are my favourites though. You will already have the black blazer from your museum outfit, as well as the white jeans. And both dresses are gorgeous on you. Plus if you have the white moto, you can swap that out for the black blazer over the lace dress. Now some of your items are doing double duty.
19 - 23 - cruise wear. Love the cruise wear options except I would leave off the vest in pic #21. To my eye, it makes the outfit look too heavy.

I would definitely throw in a denim jacket if you have space. You can pop it on with your white jeans for a denim on denim look, over over top your dresses to dress them down.

I think that's about all I have to offer for advice. I think you have wonderful options here which just goes to show how versatile and wonderful your wardrobe is.

Vicki, it sounds like a splendid trip. And you are going to look amazing and feel comfortable throughout.

The best advice I've received is to make a list of what I'll actually be doing and then make sure I have an outfit for each event. Of course there can be overlap especially of bottoms. I find I need to go one better on this, and prepare a "cold or rainy" weather outfit, and a "warm or hot" weather outfit.

With that in mind:

1/2 -- brilliant and perfect!
3-7 Denise is so smart. I agree with her about the vest working better with the flares. Love this with the blazer. Love the look of the white jacket on you, but if the black is leather as opposed to pleather, I'd say it is a better bet.

Love the lace dress with whatever topper.

19-23 Cruise outfits are amazing! Love the floral pants.

I am not sure you need another dress - if you are not a dress person than skirts seem to do the job? I think the tube skirt could be good because it is easy to dress up or down?

I am not very acquainted with cruise evening rules, but you might need more dressy wear.

Although I love the Outfit #5 for visiting "David Bowie is"... I would say pass on it and favor the white leather jacket on top of outfits #6 and/or #7. As Caro already wrote, when in doubt btw 2 items, take the one that works with more.

Therefore, white leather jacket FTW for working wonders on #16 (the black-white combination is trendy right now - isn't it? - and much more my cup of tea than the citron, I admit.) and #28.

I would leave the black tube home (it's kinda boring... and your trip sounds too much fun to bring it along!) and take the blue and white skirts.

All that said, I must still add: all outfits are stunning. It's completely understandable that your having problems eliminating options!
1 and 2 -- Super, classic, perfect for London. Looking casually elegant.
3 and 4 -- Prefer with the blazer, not the vest. For that matter, I prefer this outfit concept (specifically with the vest) with the flares. The white flares seem to mimic the shape of the vest in a really pleasing way, as shown in pic 21.
5-6-7. The version with the white top and silk scarf is so amazing! I love the juxtaposition of punk bottoms with Sloan Ranger scarf. I would pack whatever jacket best works with this outfit. All shoe options look good to me.
8-17. Evening wear. All of these look good to me. I can't say on the white jacket, I love it on you but understand there might be comfort issues. Some of these outfits look like more casual evening/dinner outfits. Is that what works on the cruise? In #13 I vote for the red shoes.
Love #18 for a day of outdoor activities, I vote the comfy sandals.
19-23 -- all super!
24 + outfits: Love #32 which works for any number of occasions. I would pack a comfy pair of jeans and as you said the shorts, you need some things to change into after your day out. You can lounge around in the comfy jeans and tees/chambray shirt. But if someone knocks on your door you are more presentable than in loungewear.

ETA -- Lucky you for what sounds like an amazing trip!
