I like both versions! You are such a brilliant outfit creator and dresser. The first outfit I like tucked or untucked. The second one, I prefer the shirt untucked. It looks like a super cool tunic under that coat.

Good to hear Anna, yes the untucked over bf's is very comfortable and feels good to wear in an insouciant way, and the shirt and pants are more drapey than stiff, so they have a lot of vertical movement going when I'm standing or walking.

thanks all!

What fantastic pattern mixing! Love all of the iterations; I think I prefer tucked with the BFs and untucked for the other 2 pants.

Pendleton makes the best plaid shirts. Somewhere in my parents' house, I have a couple of old ones. I really should remember to look for them next time I go visit.

These are all excellent, every detail so well done, the fit of the individual items, the spare inclusion of accessories, etc. I especially like 2, version skinnies because it's the most traditionally feminine but that's more about my personal taste than "better".

Thanks all for your good eyes! I agree that the untucked shirt over bf's is a little too much volume (no doubt even without hands in pockets and standing straight). Lot's of variation in the tucked/untucked question.

Those bf jeans used to be my slouchy skinnies, so I think I need to wash them in warm water to see if I can get them back to that fit again. I didn't notice in the mirror but the pics show that they have more volume now.

chouette22 - I hear you about the coat. My wardrobe is mostly navy, gray, and black so it went well with solids and textures, and when I wear bolder patterns I tend to get wild and want to mix lots of things up. Not a restful look for sure and not a universal preference ;)

Angie - thanks! I definitely will wear the last pic out and about today.

Like many I'm intrigued by the first pic too and will road test it.

I have a slight preference for the last outfit in #2 - skinnies and shirt worn out. Streamlined, simple, and the patterns are extra harmonious. Great bookending and nice ankles. Killer. Nicely done.

Oh, the plaid on plaid looks fantastic! I think I have a minor preference for the shirt untucked as I like the proportions in #1. The second variation with the animal print coat absolutely wows me! Love it. Both shapes of jean suit the look and the oxfords are the perfect pairing. You have the coolest clothes

Do you ever look fantastic! I like both outfits but prefer the first one with the jacket than without (it does get very busy then for me). I adore the second outfit in all its iterations. Love those shoes (but you know that) and I have the same coat. The colors just play so well together, really superb.

I really like my coat but also have a light grey winter coat (older) and that one got to be worn MUCH more often than the leopard one. I have several pants/skirts with patterns and then it gets right away too busy with that coat. Plus in winter I very often wear scarves with my sweaters (need them for the cold, but also love them as accessories) and again, very often they clashed totally with the coat. Sometimes I wore one scarf with the coat and then at work I put on the scarf that went with the sweater, but this is really too complicated. So for me this coat didn't turn into a workhorse but came out only when the rest of the outfit 'went' with it. In those instances I enjoyed wearing it very much. It has a great cut.

I seem to like slimmer bottom with this. So I love the plaid pants and skinnies version the best. At first I found the plaid on plaid look with leather jacket (which has patch/pocket details) + details on shoes a bit too hectic. But I think the more I looked at it, it grew on me. It also perfectly suits your artistic nature of outfits.

#3 is the winner in my books

Super! Very eclectic and artistic. I like the look and line of the jacket over the untucked shirt in 1. I agree with CocoLion about the BF jeans with the untucked shirt in #5. I like the jeans with the look, but prefer the more structured look when they're tucked. I would never have thought to pair the plaid with animal print and it works brilliantly.

Nice to see you post! You look great in this co-owned shirt, and I am impressed with your styling skills. I remember when you bought the leopard coat, so I love seeing the way you've integrated it with this sustainable piece. In spite of the pattern mixing in each outfit, you manage to look very sleek and not visually busy.

The only version that gave me pause was the 5th. Boyfriend jeans, untucked shirt. More volume, so I prefer it in #4 where the shirt is tucked. But, it's really just a preference, and the voluminous approach is bolder and displays fashion confidence.

Pendleton is associated with Anna in my mind. Plaid with many forum members including Suz and Aida. Inspired by them this is a men's shirt I bought to co-own with Mr. Rabbit late last fall, and I was politely letting him wear it first, but the seasons are rolling on and I'm eager to take it out -- it's lightweight but the colors are good for rainy and gray PNW days.

Which iterations do you think work? Any suggested tweaks or other things to try?

#1 plaid on plaid -- with some plaid jeans I over-dyed, the colors seem to play together well in daylight, need to check bright daylight of course. I finally found a plain navy clutch I like and it's been super useful.

#2 with my fav blue suede oxfords and the workhorse Ann Taylor coat I got at SeattleIngeFest. Tested with both bf and skinny jeans.

(note: the shirt I collected in finds isn't the same pattern/color)
