Sounds fab. How about a wrap and a trench coat over the dress?

I agree- sounds like you should wear sheer black hose to polish your outfit off. And a wrap is a great idea too. Have fun!

I'm not an authority on black tie events, but I think a sleeveless dress would be fine. It should be considered spring in Dallas by March right? I would wear hose though (sheer black, grey, patterned, etc.). Especially with a shorter dress it'll give you a bit more polish, especially if this is a conservative event. I would also carry a wrap or something along those lines.

Is this an annual event, can you find photos from last year to give you an idea of how people will dress?

My husband and I are attending a "black tie invited" event in Dallas, Texas the first week of March. I'm taking this to mean formal but not necessarily tuxedo formal. I purchased a sleevless, knee-length, chifon empire-waist dress with some sequins, and I ordered a pair of dressy sandals, so I don't want to have to wear pantyhose. It could maybe be 40 or 50 degrees that night. Can I pull this off? I don't want to look strange if other people are going to be dressing for cooler weather.
